Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent era, a great number of students choose to study english on their own rather than attending a formal course. However self-study results in flexibility and confidence but I perosnally disagree to this point that student are indepently studing apart from assisting of a teacher.
One major reason of self-study is that students can study according to their flexibility and their needs. For example, students who have full time jobs can do self-study according to when they get free time after their job. In addition to this, internet plays an importent role nowadays in a students life such as, watching free tutorial on the youtube rather than reading thesis or books. students find this more easiest than the other.
Moreover, opposite to the above reason, I believe that the absence of a teacher can create a major difficulty in a students life, specially when the students is not aware about what to learn and fix things. Teachers play and important role as well because they will know where the student is doing mistakes and know how to teach them hard lessons in an easiest way. For a quintessential example, a maths student giving an exam of multiplication, if he is doing self-study he might face some problems in comparison to if a student have done his study with the teacher. I believe the results will be more enhanced in the exams rather than self studying and giving exam.
In conclusion, although self-studying can provide certain benefits, I believe that without the assistance of a teacher, students will find difficulties in completing their tasks. Therefore, a balanced approach is likely to be the most effective solution.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you disagree that students can manage English study effectively without a teacher, while acknowledging the flexibility of independent learning. You address both sides and give relevant support, including the example of people with full-time jobs and the role of teachers in identifying mistakes. However, some points are not fully developed. The discussion of online tutorials does not explain how they compare with structured instruction, and the multiplication example is not closely connected to learning English. To strengthen the response, develop the English-learning example in more detail—for instance, explain how a teacher can correct pronunciation or clarify grammar—and make the conclusion reflect your position rather than introducing a balanced approach without explaining it.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on the benefits of self-study, a contrasting paragraph about teachers, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “For example,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion” help signal the direction of the argument. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The opening says self-study offers flexibility and confidence, but confidence is not developed later. “Opposite to the above reason” is an awkward transition, and the shift to a maths example interrupts the focus on English learning. The final reference to a “balanced approach” also sits uneasily beside your stated disagreement. Use more precise links between claims and examples, and ensure each paragraph advances the same central argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including relevant terms such as “flexibility,” “formal course,” “tutorial,” and “assistance.” There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “quintessential example” and “enhanced,” but these are not always natural in context. Several spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, including “perosnally,” “importent,” “indepently,” and “more easiest.” Phrases such as “fix things” and “hard lessons” are vague for the intended meaning. Aim for accurate, natural collocations rather than choosing unusually formal words: for example, describe teachers as identifying errors and explaining difficult concepts. Proofreading spelling and avoiding incorrect comparative forms would also improve clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses beginning “who have full time jobs” and “when the students is not aware,” so there is some range. The main ideas are generally understandable, but some grammatical errors affect accuracy. For example, “students who have full time jobs can do self-study according to when they get free time” has an awkward clause structure, while “a student have done his study” has subject–verb agreement and verb-form problems. Articles and plurals are also inconsistent in phrases such as “in a students life.” Review agreement, article use, and sentence construction, and punctuate introductory transitions consistently. Building accurate complex sentences around one clear idea at a time will help you express the argument more smoothly.
