Student answer (Band 5.0)
In the modern era, students often choose to study English by their own, however, they find it difficult latter. A majority of learners wants to study by themselves without attend any classes. I believe that self-study is a good thing, but somehow you need an assistance from your teacher to learn and solve the mistakes.
One reason the students want to do self-study is that they believes, there are many online resources available through which they can learn and find the solution of there problem like they can take help through chatgpt and many other websites. They can conduct their tests online from that websities, although, they can also tell the mistakes of yourself and correct them by giving a sample answers. For instance, one of my friend do practice of IELTS online through different websites and got their desire band.
Beside that, there are thousands of lectures on youtube where they can assists themselves and learn any topic which they wants to learn. Students also thinks that beside conducting physical classes, they learn the same thing from youtube, so why they spend their money of any formal course. The online lecturers provides the same information which they learn from course.
In conlclusion, I belives that it is good to do self-study, but not the best. In a formal course you can ask any question from the teacher in physical classes.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You present a relevant, partly balanced position: self-study offers online resources and flexibility, but teacher support is still useful. Examples such as online IELTS practice and YouTube lectures help address the topic. However, the response focuses much more on why students choose independent study than on whether they can manage it without a teacher, so the central issue is only partially addressed. Your final point—that students can ask a teacher questions in a formal course—is relevant but needs explanation and support. The response is also 19 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to develop your reasons. Explain more directly where independent learners struggle, and extend your examples to show how teacher guidance helps.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The paragraphs generally group related points: online resources are discussed first, followed by YouTube and course costs. However, progression is limited because both body paragraphs mainly repeat the advantages of self-study, while the opposing point about teacher assistance appears only briefly at the end. Some linking is awkward or repetitive, as in “Beside that” and the repeated use of “also.” References such as “they” and “that” are not always clear. To improve, organise the essay around distinct reasons, use transitions that show contrast as well as addition, and make each paragraph advance your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “self-study,” “online resources,” “formal course,” and “physical classes.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are noticeably inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning less clear. Examples include “study English by their own,” “find the solution of there problem,” and “got their desire band.” There are also spelling errors such as “websities” and “conlclusion.” Aim to use more precise phrases for learning independently, receiving feedback, and achieving results. Proofreading spelling and checking common word partnerships would make your ideas easier to follow and give the vocabulary greater control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a contrast with “although,” but the range is limited and errors occur frequently. Subject–verb agreement is inconsistent: “A majority of learners wants” and “they believes” should use matching plural forms. Verb patterns and forms are also faulty, as in “without attend any classes” and “one of my friend do practice.” Articles and possessives are often missing or incorrect, for example “need an assistance” and “mistakes of yourself.” Punctuation in the opening sentence creates a comma splice between two independent clauses. These errors can make the reader pause, even though the overall meaning is usually recoverable. Practise accurate basic sentence patterns before adding more complex clauses.
