Student answer (Band 5.5)

With the growing technology English has become an important part of our daily lives. However, a large group of students believe to study english at their own rather then tutor's assistance. This essay will discuss both the views whether english is learned properly at own or by guidance.

Nowadays, students like to learn everything at their own without anyone's help and by self-study their concentration towards study increases and thier mind starts to focus more. By studing english indipendently they can learn without any need of someone to teach at aparticular time and rather can practice any time. Self- study helps students know more clearly and in depth as they are already intrested and therefore they will fix their mind in it.

However, world is nothing without teachers. Without teachers guidance many students and individual can find difficulty learning english. With guidance and support a person can achive much more than thought it is because teachers tells about where it is need for the improvement and where not. Teachers can make it simpler to learn by making schedule and by giving regular homework to maintain discipline and curiocity.

To put it in a nut shell, I pen down saying that thought english can be learned at own by teachers also play a very important part in students life and making them achieve goals.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You discuss both independent study and teacher support, and you give relevant reasons: self-study offers flexibility and can help learners focus, while teachers provide feedback, schedules, and discipline. However, the task asks how far you agree or disagree, and your position is not clearly established or maintained. The introduction says the essay will discuss “both the views,” while the conclusion mentions the value of both without stating which view you support or to what extent. The ideas are also brief and mostly general, with no specific example to develop them. The response is 223 words, so it does not meet the 250-word minimum. State your position directly and extend each main point with an explanation or a concrete example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two perspectives, and a conclusion. The contrast between “Nowadays” and “However” helps readers follow the shift from self-study to teacher guidance, and the final paragraph signals closure. At times, though, the progression is more like a list of claims than a developed argument. For example, the self-study paragraph moves from concentration to flexible timing and then depth of learning without showing how these points connect or providing an illustration. The conclusion also does not clearly resolve the discussion. Build a more explicit line of reasoning within each paragraph, and use references such as “this flexibility” to link explanations to the point they support.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “self-study,” “guidance,” “improvement,” “schedule,” and “discipline.” These terms help communicate the main ideas, but the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning less natural. For instance, “believe to study English at their own” and “learn everything at their own” do not express the intended idea idiomatically; “study independently” would be clearer. There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “thier,” “studing,” “indipendently,” and “achive.” Expand your range with precise phrases for learning methods and teacher roles, and proofread spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrastive opening with “However” and a reason clause beginning “it is because.” The main ideas are generally understandable, but the range is limited and errors recur in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and punctuation. For example, “a large group of students believe to study” has an incorrect verb pattern, while “teachers tells” has a subject–verb agreement error. In “Without teachers guidance,” the possessive form is missing, and the final sentence beginning “To put it in a nut shell” is not grammatically complete or clearly punctuated. Practise accurate clause structures and check agreement and possessives; shorter, well-controlled sentences will make your argument clearer.
