Student answer (Band 5.0)
A huge number of students choose to study English independently on a self- study basis rather than attend a formal course. However, without the assistance of a teacher, students often find it difficult to manage their studies.
Overall Students think that they can manage their studies without any assitance of thier teacher but teachers plays important role in studies of students as they have knowledge and experience to deliver lectures in good way.
When we are younger, we are not much mature that we can take right dicison of life .For example every student has its own ability to learn. Some students pickup things quickly, like those who mostly spent there time alone instead of studying or playing with other students they like to play or study alone. Those students moslty prefer self study rathe rthan attending a formal course, but there are pros and cons.Students who do self study are more creative, good in arts, more thoughtful but they become bookworm they loose their selfconfidence, communication skills and their social circle become limited. On the other hand teachers play a crucial role in self grooming of students not just delivering the lecture,They had spend thier whole life in teaching they know what is good or bad thing for their students. They can guide them in thier studeis how to bring good grades.
I think self study and Teacher assistance are both main role in students studies. They can talk to their teachers about their quries that they cannot solve alone and then study hard to get good grades.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address the topic and express a general view that both independent study and teacher support matter. You also give relevant points about teachers’ guidance and the possible social effects of studying alone. However, your position is not fully clear: the opening says students think they can manage without help, while the conclusion presents both approaches as equally important, without directly stating how far you agree with the claim that self-study is difficult to manage. Several ideas, such as students becoming “more creative” or losing confidence, are asserted rather than explained with a specific example. The response also contains 213 words, below the required 250; 37 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop your reasons and examples, and state your position clearly throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some organisation: you begin with a general view, discuss students who prefer independent study, contrast this with teachers’ role, and finish with a conclusion. The contrast signalled by “On the other hand” helps the reader follow the shift in focus. However, the response is presented as one long body paragraph, so the main points are not clearly separated, and the overall progression is difficult to track. Several ideas are crowded together, particularly the discussion of students’ abilities, preferences, creativity and social skills. Some linking is also mechanical or unclear, and the final sentence introduces a recommendation without connecting it fully to your position. Use separate paragraphs for your view, supporting reasons and conclusion, and make each paragraph develop one central idea.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “formal course,” “self study,” “communication skills,” “crucial role” and “good grades,” which makes your general meaning understandable. However, the range is limited and several expressions are repeated or imprecise, such as “students’ studies” and “good thing or bad thing.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-form errors, including “assitance,” “dicison,” “thier” and “selfconfidence”; these reduce the accuracy and polish of the writing. Some combinations are unnatural, for example “self grooming of students” and “bring good grades.” Aim for more precise academic phrasing and check spelling carefully. Using a wider range of accurate expressions would help you explain the benefits and limitations of each study method more clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a conditional-style explanation beginning “When we are younger” and a contrast introduced by “On the other hand.” However, the range is limited, and complex sentences are often faulty. Subject–verb agreement errors occur in “teachers plays” and “teachers play” is needed; tense and verb-form problems appear in “They had spend their whole life in teaching.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in “learn. Some students” and the long sequence of ideas joined with commas. Articles, plurals and sentence construction need more reliable control. Practise writing shorter, complete sentences first, then combine related ideas using accurate clauses and punctuation.
