Student answer (Band 5.5)

Many students decided to learn the subject called English without teacher or without attending regular classes. Although they have no teacher, they may suffer from difficulties. I strongly agree with this statement. I will explain the same with reasons and examples in my essay.

Firstly, students have no formal way to learn because they have decided to study by own. Although they have no proper infrastructure, they will be disturbed. For example, the education environment always provided by a proper classroom. If students take classes from home, they may distract from the sorrounding environment. Secondly, the teacher helps students by highlighting their mistakes. If they have no proper teacher, they can make mistakes. For instance, only those students can get good grades in their exam who learned from a teacher while other students only pass their exam.

However, it is necessary to learn English through teachers otherwise you may suffer from grammar difficulties. Furthermore, students can enhance English by using proper grammar. Students should target to learn English language in institute by a teacher rather than house. For instance, IELTS exam need a proper grammar. In india, ratio of those students who achieve good score band is at peak because they join academies.

In conclusion, students need a proper building for learning English language. They also need a tutor to improve their mistakes which may happen due to grammar. Their self-study plan may bring a number of difficulties. Maximum students choose to learn English language by own instead to visiting unversities, so they find hard to manage.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you strongly agree that independent learners can struggle, and you give relevant reasons about distractions at home and the value of a teacher correcting mistakes. These examples keep the response focused on the question. However, the discussion is only partly developed. The claim that students without teachers “only pass their exam” is broad and not explained, while the point about grammar and IELTS largely repeats the need for instruction rather than showing how self-study becomes difficult to manage. The conclusion also shifts toward needing a “proper building,” which is narrower than the question’s focus on managing independent study. Develop each reason with a clearer explanation or a specific, credible example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, supporting paragraphs and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” “Furthermore” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of your argument. However, progression is somewhat repetitive: the need for a teacher and the risk of grammar mistakes recur without each paragraph adding a distinct, fully developed point. Some links are also unclear, particularly “Although they have no proper infrastructure, they will be disturbed,” where the relationship between infrastructure and distraction is not explained. The paragraph beginning “However” does not introduce a clear contrast with the previous points. Organise the body around separate reasons and use linking expressions to show the precise relationship between them.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “formal,” “classroom,” “highlighting their mistakes,” “grammar” and “self-study.” However, the range is limited and several phrases are unnatural or imprecise, which makes some points harder to follow. Examples include “study by own,” “proper infrastructure,” “learn English language in institute” and “ratio of those students … is at peak.” There are also spelling errors such as “sorrounding” and “unversities.” Aim for more natural collocations and precise wording, rather than repeating “proper” and “students.” For example, describe a “structured learning environment” and explain that learners may struggle to “identify and correct their own errors.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some complex sentences, including “Although they have no teacher, they may suffer from difficulties,” and use basic sentence patterns to express your position. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. For example, “Many students decided” uses an unsuitable tense for a general claim, while “students can make mistakes” follows an unclear conditional pattern in “If they have no proper teacher.” Articles and sentence construction are also problematic in “IELTS exam need a proper grammar” and “students … who learned from a teacher.” Work on accurate present-tense generalisations, articles, subject–verb agreement and complete conditional structures. Vary sentence forms only after these basic patterns are controlled.
