Student answer (Band 5.0)

A considerable amount of students increasingly choosen to study English at their own without attend a formal course.Meanwhile, without the guidance of tutor they find it difficult to manage their studies. I agree with later view because tutors duidance is necessary to build strong academic foundation .

First and the foremost , teacher plays an important role in developing the mind and help them to learn new things easily. Without the guidance of trainer they may not develop appropriate skills and the often make mistakes . Moreover ,teacher has more experience in their field ,that is why the can develop the skill in students with their own experiences .

Secondly ,without the guidance of trainer the may not develop appropriate skiils because they do not have much knowlegde . They do not have much knowledge to learn new things because it requires a lot of practice and effort . If they not learn English efficiently ,it results in lack of confidence . Due to the this reason , they may afraid of communicationg with other people and could not express their thoughts .Therefore ,I believe the guidance of teacher is necessary to build students academic foundation and skills .

In conclusion , I stongly believe that assistance of teacher is very necessary to study any formal course .With the help of their guidance they could learn things esaily and may suceed in their life .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

Your position is clear: you agree that learners need a teacher’s assistance, and you give relevant reasons, including that a teacher can help develop skills and that weak English may reduce confidence in communication. However, the response addresses the issue only partially because these points are repeated rather than explained with specific examples or fuller reasoning. For instance, the claim that teachers use their experience to develop students’ skills would be stronger if you explained how feedback or a structured study plan helps. The conclusion restates your view but adds little. The response is also 15 words below the required minimum, so there is limited space to develop your ideas. Add a relevant example and explain each main reason more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “First and foremost,” “Secondly” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of your argument. However, progression within the body paragraphs is limited, and the second paragraph repeats the point about lacking guidance and skills from the first. Some links are mechanical or unclear, as in “Due to the this reason,” while punctuation spacing makes connections harder to follow. To improve, give each paragraph a distinct central idea, develop it in a logical sequence, and use pronouns and linking phrases accurately. For example, explain the teacher’s role in one paragraph, then focus on the consequences of independent study in the next.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some vocabulary relevant to education and learning, including “guidance,” “academic foundation,” “practice,” and “confidence.” These choices make your main topic understandable. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling, word-form and collocation errors reduce accuracy, such as “choosen,” “duidance,” “skiils,” “knowlegde,” and “stongly.” Some phrases are also unnatural, including “study English at their own” and “assistance of teacher.” Repetition of “guidance,” “learn” and “skills” further limits flexibility. Build a small set of accurate topic phrases and check spelling carefully; use more precise expressions for the teacher’s role and for the difficulties faced by independent learners.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including a conditional structure in “If they not learn English efficiently, it results in lack of confidence.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in verb forms, articles, agreement and sentence construction. Examples include “students increasingly choosen,” “without attend,” “the can develop,” and “they may afraid.” The opening also joins sentences without a space after the full stop, and commas are often separated from the preceding word. These errors sometimes make the reader pause to interpret the meaning. Practise accurate present-tense forms and modal patterns, such as “may not develop” and “may be afraid,” and check articles and punctuation when proofreading.
