Student answer (Band 6.0)
A large number of students select to study English by themselves independently than choosing a regular course. I strongly agree that without the guidance of a teacher, it is challenging for students to manage their studies because students do not get feedback on their performance and oftentimes distracted in studies.
Having an instructor to learn for English course is very crucial because students do not get corrections on their mistakes. They are assuming that they have performed well but unaware of the minor grammatical mistakes. For example, if someone has an exam of English subject and he chooses to study by himself rather than joining a course. Despite working hard, he cannot score desired grades because he was not receiving a feedback of his work. So, its important to join a comprehensive course for learning English.
Another reason for having a mentor for your studies is that a mentor guides you the path of your destination. It is absolutely correct without the help of a teacher, there are minimal chances of an excellent performance. For instance, if you have an instructor of English, you will not be confused at the beginning and end of your course before final exam. Students might also be distracted by fake free courses available on internet and waste their crucial time. At the end of the term, a student without having a mentor will not be able to manage his studies effectively. Therefore, it is better to learn from an authentic teacher.
In conclude, to prevent from trouble and distraction, students should prioritize to learn, get help and feedback from a teacher rather than self-study.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction: you strongly agree that learners struggle without a teacher, and you give two relevant reasons—lack of feedback and distraction. The examples about an English exam and misleading online courses help connect these points to the question. This meets the task well, but the development is uneven: the feedback point is explained more clearly, while the claim that a mentor guides students “the path of your destination” remains vague, and the exam example does not show specifically how a teacher would improve study management. To strengthen the response, explain practical support such as setting goals, choosing suitable materials, or correcting recurring errors, and develop each example to show its effect.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present separate reasons, and a conclusion restates your recommendation. Linking expressions such as “For example,” “Another reason,” and “Therefore” make the progression easy to follow. However, some connections feel mechanical, and a few references are unclear. For instance, “It is absolutely correct without the help of a teacher” does not clearly connect the preceding claim to the next sentence, while “you” shifts away from the essay’s discussion of students in general. Use more precise links between claim, explanation, and example, and keep the point of view consistent. This would make the organisation more fluent and the cohesion less dependent on formulaic transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “guidance,” “feedback,” “grammatical mistakes,” “mentor,” and “distracted,” so the main ideas are understandable. There are also attempts at more specific expressions such as “comprehensive course” and “authentic teacher.” However, several word choices and collocations are noticeably unnatural or imprecise, including “select to study,” “guides you the path,” and “prioritize to learn.” Repetition of “teacher,” “students,” and “studies” also limits the range. Aim to learn vocabulary in natural combinations and choose precise terms for the intended meaning—for example, describe a teacher as helping learners “set a study plan” rather than guiding them to a “destination.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex forms, including a conditional example beginning “if someone has an exam” and a contrast introduced by “Despite working hard.” The overall meaning is generally clear, but some errors in sentence structure, verb forms, articles, and agreement remain. For example, “students … oftentimes distracted” needs a verb such as “are,” and “They are assuming” is not the appropriate form for a general belief. In “a student … will not be able to manage his studies,” the pronoun also shifts from the plural “students.” The sentence beginning “It is absolutely correct without…” is structurally incomplete or awkward. Practise checking each clause for a subject and finite verb, and review articles and consistent pronoun reference.
