Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You give a clear overall position by stating, “I agree this statement,” and you include relevant points about stress, difficulty resolving doubts, and your own experience. However, the response only partially develops the task: the benefits of independent study are mentioned, but the explanation is unclear, and the reasons why teacher support helps are not extended with specific detail. The conclusion mostly repeats the prompt and your position. The response is 204 words, below the required 250; 57 words copied from the prompt were not counted. This limits the space available to explain and support your ideas. Develop each main reason with a clear explanation and a relevant example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is an attempt to organise the response into an introduction, two contrasting points, and a conclusion. Linking phrases such as “On the one hand,” “On the second hand,” and “In conclusion” help signal these sections. However, the progression within paragraphs is difficult to follow: the discussion moves from the usefulness of self-study to apps, then to students’ doubts, without clearly connecting each point. Some transitions are also awkward or unclear, and the conclusion repeats earlier wording rather than bringing the reasoning together. Use one focused paragraph for each main idea, and connect sentences by showing how each example supports the point. Clearer paragraph development would make the overall argument easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “independently,” “formal course,” “stress,” and “manage their studies,” so the reader can identify the subject of your argument. However, the range is basic and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “english,” “students,” and “self-study.” Frequent spelling errors such as “usefull,” “withot,” “deficult,” and “knowlege” make the writing less clear and reduce accuracy. Some combinations are also unnatural, for example “increase in the mobile and labtops improve english knowlege.” Aim to use a wider set of accurate topic vocabulary and check spelling carefully. More natural phrases for describing learning tools and teacher support would make your ideas clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt to form longer sentences using reasons and examples, including “because some average students choose english subject” and “So without teachers very dificult to manage their studies.” However, sentence structures are limited and errors occur frequently, sometimes making relationships between ideas unclear. For example, “I agree this statement” is missing a necessary grammatical element, while “the self-study is most of the students very usefull” has an unclear sentence structure. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as well as inconsistent capitalisation and spacing around punctuation. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with clauses using “because,” “although,” and “for example.”
