Student answer (Band 6.0)
In the recent time period, many students are choosing to study English independently. However, there is a debate too where some think teacher's assistance is important to overcome the difficulty of a course. I also completely agree with idea of student learning through formal courses and by tutors as it will help them learn more quickly and find experienced help from instructors.
There are many reasons for studying English through course work and one of them is, it gives a structure to the study pattern which student find hard to form when studying independently. This can be due to the teachers being more experienced and have been giving assistance since many years which brings the effectiveness to the learning. Students can learn many new concepts in a different structures and can repeatedly ask if that meaning is not clear whereas these resources are not available on self-study basis. For example, a weak student struggling in one concept would have a chance to clear it through his or her instructor. Therefore, it will reduce involving energy on what needed to be done.
Students take alot of pressure when studying independently, and that stress increases the time period of that course whereas formal course from an assistance can reduce that time invested on wrong approches. Many students endup wasting their time on finding stretegies, steps, or shortforms as they are not aware of the techniques which tutors are. For instance, a student searching meaning of a paticular English story on a google and still ends up not understanding as google is only explaining in one form whereas experienced teacher tries to explain in different ways if a students is not understanding in a same pattern. This saves time of many students who are in a rush to study.
In conclusion, formal courses gives a new structured knowledge which can be hard to find while studying on self-study basis and the time a of many students is saved after an assistance from an experienced teacher.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: you agree that teacher-supported courses are preferable, and both body paragraphs give relevant reasons—structured learning and reduced wasted time. The examples about a struggling student asking an instructor for clarification and a teacher explaining a story in different ways help illustrate these points. This meets the task well, but the discussion is not equally developed throughout: the claim that independent study creates pressure and takes longer is asserted more than explained, and the examples remain general rather than showing a specific experience or outcome. To strengthen the response, explain more fully how structure or feedback improves English learning, and briefly acknowledge when independent study might work well before reaffirming your view. This would make the argument more fully extended and balanced.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present separate reasons, and the conclusion restates the main argument. Linking expressions such as “For example,” “Therefore,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the progression. However, some connections feel mechanical, and a few references are unclear—for instance, “it will reduce involving energy on what needed to be done” does not clearly identify what “it” refers to or express the relationship between the ideas. The second body paragraph also moves from pressure to time, then to searching for strategies and a story example without fully connecting each step. Use clearer topic sentences and explicit links between claims and examples, while varying transitions, to make the progression smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “independently,” “structure,” “instructors,” and “techniques,” and the reader can generally understand your main points. However, the range and control are limited by repeated general terms such as “students,” “time,” and “study,” as well as noticeable spelling and word-choice errors. Phrases such as “a different structures,” “shortforms,” and “a google” are inaccurate or unnatural, while “formal courses from an assistance” does not express your intended meaning clearly. Aim for more precise collocations and check spelling carefully. For example, describe a course as “teacher-led” or “structured,” and refer to “searching online” rather than “a google.” These changes would make your argument clearer and more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “whereas” and “which,” and most of the argument remains understandable. However, errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction recur. For example, “formal courses gives” should use a plural verb, while “a different structures” has an article–number mismatch. In “teachers being more experienced and have been giving assistance,” the verb forms are not parallel. Some sentences are also difficult to follow, particularly “Therefore, it will reduce involving energy on what needed to be done.” Practise checking subject–verb agreement and article use, and simplify sentences when the grammatical relationships are unclear. More consistently accurate complex sentences would improve control.
