Student answer (Band 6.0)

A growing number of students prefer to learn English by themselves instead of attending any classes. Nevertheless, they sometimes face challenges to manage their study due to the absence of help from a mentor. I partially agree with viwepoint as they may find difficult to understand the complex grammar theories , but there are a plethora of options available on inernet such videos, English practacing Apps by which they can improve thenselves.

To begin, when students intend to study English independently, they often sruggle to indentify the naunces in English. In that case, a teacher can help them by breaking down the complicated grammar trems into managable parts. As a result, the learners can learn effectively.

On the other hand, now technology plays a crucial role to assist students in learning. They can access a number of videos on You-tube about studying english which contributes to be proficient in English. Apart from this, they can linsten to English podcast and shadowing so that they can understand how native speakers speak and their accent. For instance, they can hear Ted-talk everyday to be fluent in speaking. Moverover, If they read documentaires and poems, they will able know many grammar roles and dialects. In addition, there are many applications on smartphone such as Duolingo, ELSA English which are beneficial for the beginners. Therefore, they can learn from A to Z by those apps. Last but not least, when they practice in front of mirror, it faciliates to enhance their body languages.

To sum up, I don't fully agree with the notion that learners find challenging to mainatin their studies without a teacher as a instructor can help them to some extend, whereas they can aslo study effortlessly and proficiently with the help of internet which is explained in the aforementioned points of view.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you partially disagree that learners struggle without a teacher, and the conclusion restates this view. You address both sides by explaining that teachers can clarify complex grammar and that online videos, podcasts, apps, and practice can support independent learning. These are relevant examples, including TED Talks and language-learning apps. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained: for example, reading poems and practising in front of a mirror are mentioned without showing clearly how they help learners manage their studies. To strengthen the response, develop fewer examples in more depth and connect each one directly to the question of managing independent study. The response covers the task, but its support is not consistently developed or precise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph about the value of teachers, a paragraph on technology, and a conclusion. The contrast between the two main positions is signalled with phrases such as “To begin” and “On the other hand,” and the conclusion returns to your overall view. This gives the essay a coherent overall arrangement. However, the technology paragraph contains many examples in quick succession, so the progression becomes list-like rather than showing how the ideas relate. Some linking phrases, including “Apart from this,” “Moreover,” and “Last but not least,” are used mechanically. Group related examples and explain their connection, and use clearer referencing so that phrases such as “those apps” have an unmistakable antecedent.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “independently,” “complicated grammar,” “proficient,” and “crucial role.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and some less common expressions show an effort to vary your language. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, for example “viwepoint,” “inernet,” “practacing,” and “naunces.” There are also awkward or inaccurate combinations such as “learn from A to Z by those apps” and “contributes to be proficient.” These sometimes make the reader pause, even though the general meaning is usually recoverable. Proofread carefully and focus on accurate collocations and natural phrasing, rather than adding more ambitious vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple statements and attempts at longer, more complex sentences, including clauses beginning “when,” “so that,” and “whereas.” This gives the response some structural variety, and the main argument is generally understandable. However, errors in sentence construction and grammatical forms recur. For example, “they may find difficult to understand” needs an object such as “it,” while “they will able know” is missing “to.” The final sentence, “as a instructor can help them to some extend,” also has problems with article use and clause structure. Punctuation and capitalisation are inconsistent, particularly around sentence boundaries and after “Moreover.” Work on complete clause patterns, articles, and verb constructions, then check each sentence for accurate punctuation.
