Student answer (Band 5.5)

In the contempaorary society, learning english has emerged as a highly debated issue. While a segment of people firmly believe that learning english independently, others stongly opose this notion. This eassy aims to critcally examine both prespective. From my stand point, I firmly disagree that studying english independenly as it offers a multitude of significant disadvantages.

To comence with, a compelling reaosn supporting my viewpoint is that, If the individual learn english with assistance of a teacher it will help them in improving there writing. Teachers will help there students in english that they will know their gramatical mistakes as well as their way of speaking. When individuals learn english from teacher, they become capable of improving them. Additionally, this will empowers individuals to learn more more efficently and accomplish supperior outcomes.

For instance, when i was going to give my ielts test, i learn it from my teacher, it helped me through everything. This example, vivdly illustrates that we have to learn english from a tutor that it can contributes in the society.

Another reason is that teacher will remove our hasitation from us. When they teach us, they help us in certain way we can't do that alone. We can speak to the teacher one on one as this will remove our hesitation. This ficilitae individuals as well. Moreover, this not only enable them to become better then othersbut it also enhances their way of living.Consiquentaly, a large proption of people derive subsebtacial benifits from this.

For example, My friend cant speak properly with anyone, whenever she speaks she felt embaressed. Then later on, she got a teacher for herself and from there they speak with each other everyday. This stance clearly highlights that it contibutes significantly. Thus, it is undiable that we should learn english from a teacher.

On the contoray, some individuals contend that if they will study english independtly they will learn it more. They think that it will improve them by themsleves. They can accomplish everything on their on. with effective management and prudent utlzation, it can offer far more advantages then drawbacks. Thus, this argument fails to outweigh previously discussed advantages.

To conclude, although it is argued by some that learning english independentaly will help them on there on others strongly oppose this. I firmly believe that having a teacher will make you learn english more better and in lesser time as it offeers far more benefits. Therefore, it should be actively promoted in the society.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you disagree with independent study and support learning with a teacher. You address both sides, giving reasons about writing and grammar support, reduced hesitation, and a brief counterargument about self-management. The personal examples about your IELTS preparation and your friend make the response relevant. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained: for instance, the claim that teacher-led learning improves students’ “way of living” is not connected clearly to the question, and the opposing view is only briefly presented. To strengthen the response, explain more precisely how teachers help students manage their studies and develop the counterargument before showing why your position is stronger.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure, with an introduction, two supporting paragraphs, a counterargument, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To commence with,” “Another reason,” and “On the contrary” help signal the stages of your argument. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and several links between ideas are unclear. For example, “This example, vividly illustrates that we have to learn English from a tutor that it can contributes in the society” does not clearly show how the example supports the claim. Some references, including “this” and “they,” are also vague. Use fewer formulaic transitions and make each paragraph develop one main point in a clear sequence, with explicit links between evidence and claim.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt some topic-relevant and formal vocabulary, including “independently,” “compelling reason,” “prudent utilization,” and “substantial benefits.” This gives you a basis for discussing the issue, but control is limited by frequent spelling errors and inaccurate or unnatural word choices, such as “hasitation,” “ficilitae,” “contibutes,” and “learn it more better.” Some phrases are also vague or awkward, including “improving them” and “contributes in the society,” which can make your meaning less precise. Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common collocations, such as “improve their writing skills” and “reduce their hesitation.” Prefer clear, accurate vocabulary over formal-sounding expressions that do not fit the intended meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use both simple sentences and attempts at more complex forms, including “although” clauses and “not only…but also” structures. This shows some range, but errors in sentence construction, verb forms, agreement, and punctuation recur and sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Examples include “If the individual learn English,” “this will empowers individuals,” and “it can contributes significantly.” The sentence beginning “While a segment of people firmly believe…” is incomplete because it does not provide a matching main clause. Work on subject–verb agreement and consistent verb patterns, and check that each sentence has a complete clause. More accurate control of these structures would make your argument easier to read.
