Student answer (Band 4.5)
A big number of students choose to study english independently on a self-study basis rather than attend a formal course .
I strongly disagree about this statement , because english is not easily language it demands much effort to learn .
In addition, english language now become international language ,it is very important for every educated person to learn this language .
Furthermore,I think it is not a self-study base ,we can not learn english without any assistance of teacher .It is very difficult for students to manage their studies .English consist on many sentances which is not easy .
overall,it is mostly depends on the brain memory of students .Some students learn english very easily without any any assistance of teacher .
But at start of learning english ,every student require traning by teacher rather than they are intelligent or not .
For example , now a days i doing my ielts english test training in home rather than attend any class. But i face many problem in my prepartion of my english test .
Because it is a tough test ,i think i can not gain my expected goal without any assistance of a teacher .This test demands high level of planning and strategy .
In conclusion,Its totally depend upon the memory of students because some students learn english very easily without any teacher help. But some students requires huge effort to learn this .They require complete planning and strategy at the basic level to learn things easily .If they not attend classes by teacher they not get good grade in english

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You give a clear overall view that learners need a teacher, while acknowledging that some students can learn independently. The example about preparing for IELTS at home is relevant and helps explain your difficulty managing study and planning. However, the response does not fully develop the reasons behind your position: for instance, “English consist on many sentances” is not explained, and the contrast between students who learn easily and those who need help remains general. The conclusion repeats this contrast rather than drawing together developed reasons. The response is also 6 words below the 250-word minimum; 19 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop the example and explain specifically how a teacher supports learning to address the task more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
Your ideas are presented in a broadly recognisable order: an opening position, supporting points, a personal example, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “In addition,” “Furthermore,” and “For example” show an effort to connect ideas. However, the progression is difficult to follow because several points are placed together without clear paragraphing, and the argument shifts between saying students cannot learn without a teacher and saying some learn very easily alone. The conclusion repeats earlier claims rather than synthesising them. Some links are also mechanical or unclear, such as “overall” before the point about memory. Organise the response into distinct paragraphs and make each one develop a single reason, with clear references connecting it to your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use a basic range of vocabulary relevant to education and language learning, including “assistance,” “planning,” “strategy,” and “expected goal.” These choices make your main topic understandable. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “english,” “teacher,” and “learn.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice problems, such as “sentances,” “prepartion,” “traning,” and “a big number,” which reduce accuracy and sometimes make the reader pause. Some combinations are unnatural, including “English consist on many sentences” and “self-study base.” Build a wider set of accurate phrases for describing instruction, progress, and study difficulties, and check spelling and collocations carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences using reasons and contrast, for example, “Because it is a tough test, I think I can not gain my expected goal without any assistance of a teacher.” This shows an effort to connect clauses, but the range remains limited and errors occur frequently. Verb forms and agreement are often inaccurate: “English language now become” and “some students requires” need corrected forms. Articles and sentence construction are also problematic, as in “English is not easily language” and “But at start of learning English.” Punctuation and capitalisation are inconsistent, with spaces before commas and several sentences beginning with lowercase letters. Practise accurate basic sentence patterns first, then add complex clauses while checking verb agreement, articles, and punctuation.
