Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, people who have good command on english have more career opportunies globally. Many students prefer to learn english on their own instead of attending academic lectures on that subject but some of them are facing diificulties to study without any guidance by teacher. In my perspectve I truely agree with the statement that due to development of technology, large amount of data with extensive resources are accessible and its more cheaper in financial terms but still it should be under teacher guidlines.
On one side, Firstly, students can easily learn english language beacuse of large amount of knowledge is accessible online as well as offline and they can avail them so easily. For instance, there are lots of youtube tutorials to learn english, many books available online and and they can watch those tutorial whenever they get time and enhance their strength. They can spend hours in a day or can plan to learn it on weekend as per time suitable to them. There is no need to go to school or college to learn english on mentioned time where teachers gave them lectures. However it doesn't replace the need of formal academic studies.Secondly, self study is economical which means you can get bundle of information available for free on internet and instead of getting enrolled into an institution and pay heavy amount of money to learn english you can pay less amount on wifi expenses or on library membership.
On the other side, if students learn under the supervision of professional teachers, they can guide them on the basis of their experiences and gave them proper road map to learn english and if they face any challenges they have someone for assistance and students know to manage their time as now there is a time schedule which they have to follow.
In conclusion, Its more convinent to learn english on you own but under the guidelines provided by instructors.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: you agree that independent study can be useful but should still be supported by a teacher. You address both sides, giving relevant reasons such as online resources, flexible study time, lower costs, and teachers’ ability to provide guidance and a schedule. This covers the task well. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For example, you say students “know to manage their time” with a teacher, but could explain how regular lessons or deadlines improve their study habits. The examples are also general rather than specific. To strengthen the response further, develop each main reason with a clearer explanation or a concrete example, and make the extent of your agreement more explicit in the conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on independent study, a contrasting paragraph on teacher support, and a conclusion. Linking phrases such as “On one side,” “On the other side,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the main direction. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, particularly with “Firstly” and “Secondly,” and the first body paragraph combines several ideas—access to resources, flexible timing, and cost—without clearly separating or prioritising them. Some sentences also run together, making the progression harder to follow. Use clearer topic sentences and divide the first body paragraph into more focused units. Referencing could also be more precise so that pronouns such as “they” have an unmistakable antecedent.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of vocabulary for the topic, including “accessible,” “supervision,” “professional teachers,” “assistance,” and “financial terms.” These choices help communicate the contrast between independent learning and formal instruction. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, including “opportunies,” “diificulties,” and “convinent,” as well as awkward combinations such as “good command on English” and “large amount of data with extensive resources.” Some repetition of “learn English” and “available” also limits flexibility. Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise expressions such as “career opportunities,” “a wealth of online resources,” and “study independently” would make the argument clearer and more fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “where” and “if,” and the overall meaning is generally understandable. However, complex sentences are often not controlled successfully, and errors in sentence boundaries, agreement, articles, and verb forms recur. For example, “students … gave them proper road map” has an incorrect verb form and article, while “it’s more cheaper” uses an incorrect comparative construction. The opening also joins several ideas into a long sentence without clear punctuation. Practise building accurate sentences with one main idea and then adding subordinate clauses. Check subject–verb agreement, articles, and verb tense, and use full stops or semicolons to prevent run-on sentences.
