Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this fast forward world, people are in a rush to achieve the highest possible goals. To achieve greater success they thrive for better knowledge including language skills. English being the largest speaking language, it paves many possibilities as this ommits communication barrier to a large extend. However, I agree that, a considerable number of students choose to study English independently rather than attending any academic course. As a result, they are misguided and face difficulties in understanding and processing the lanuage on their own.

Many students find English learning benefitial apart from their main academic course. They are intrgued by the online videos and contents which ignites their interest in English. Moreover, almost all the internatioanl educational institutes teach their subjects in English. As a resul English seems effertless for its greater exposure. Students aquires a mis-conception of knowing English while, in reality the correct English is far from their reach. They get poor marks and often hard to maintain balance between the main course and the optional course. Which effects their academic scores. This basically happens due to lack of language ackowledgement and missing a proper guidence by proffesionals.Only a proper guidence not only English but any language is achievable. \

In conclution, English is undoubtedly an crucial medium of comminication. However, Non native speakers have to work calculatevely in order to achieve a greater understanding. A proffesioanl guidence with structured lessons can help them achieve their goal without hampering their overall academic results. Thus they can be successfull in the future and earn their desired goals.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You take a position in favour of the statement, saying students who study independently “are misguided and face difficulties,” and your conclusion recommends professional guidance and structured lessons. These points are relevant, but the response only partly develops the question of how difficult it is to manage independent study. The discussion shifts towards English’s usefulness, exposure through online content, and possible effects on academic results, without clearly explaining specific study-management problems or weighing how far you agree. The claim that students “get poor marks” also needs an example or explanation. To strengthen the response, keep the focus on managing independent learning and support your position with a developed example. The response meets the required length; eight words copied from the prompt were not counted.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable introduction, body paragraph and conclusion, and linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “As a result” and “In conclusion” help signal relationships. However, progression within the body is difficult to follow: it moves from online videos to English-medium institutions, then to misconceptions, poor marks and balancing courses, without clearly showing how each point supports the main argument. Some connections are also unclear, as in “As a resul English seems effertless for its greater exposure.” The sentence beginning “Which effects their academic scores” is an incomplete continuation, and the final body claim about guidance is hard to interpret. Organise the paragraph around one main difficulty at a time, and use clear references and complete sentences to connect each explanation to your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “communication barrier,” “structured lessons,” “exposure” and “academic results,” and the general meaning is usually recoverable. However, frequent spelling errors and inaccurate word forms make the writing less clear, for example “om mits,” “lanuage,” “benefitial,” “intrgued,” “ackowledgement” and “proffesionals.” Some combinations are also unnatural or imprecise: “thrive for better knowledge,” “English seems effertless” and “achieve their desired goals.” These issues fit a limited but minimally adequate range, as errors sometimes make the reader pause. Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common collocations as complete phrases, such as “strive for knowledge” and “gain a better understanding,” rather than translating expressions word by word.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including the opening participial phrase “English being the largest speaking language” and the contrast introduced by “However.” Nevertheless, errors occur frequently and sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to understand. For example, “Students aquires” has subject–verb disagreement, while “Which effects their academic scores” is a sentence fragment and uses an incorrect verb form. The construction “Only a proper guidence not only English but any language is achievable” is also incomplete and lacks a clear grammatical relationship between its parts. Article use and punctuation are inconsistent, as in “an crucial medium” and the run-together sentence after “scores.” Practise complete sentence patterns, agreement, articles and punctuation, then proofread each sentence for a clear subject and verb.
