Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
The response makes a limited attempt to discuss English learning and mentions teachers, school support, and the skills of reading, writing, listening, and speaking. However, it does not clearly answer whether you agree or disagree that independent learners struggle without a teacher. The opening focuses on English being important, while the later paragraphs shift to general ways to improve English; neither develops a consistent position on the question. Examples such as “schools and education system can also play an important role” are relevant in principle, but they are not explained in relation to self-study or the need for teacher assistance. To strengthen the response, state your position directly and build each main point around the contrast between independent study and formal teaching, with a specific supporting example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic paragraph structure, with an opening section, a paragraph beginning “Moreover,” and a conclusion introduced by “In conclusion.” These markers help signal stages of the response. However, the ideas within paragraphs do not progress clearly: the first moves from English’s importance to social effects, tutoring, and relationships without showing how these points connect. The second combines personal practice, school guidance, and teacher support, but the links between them remain unclear. Some transitions, such as “In addition” and “Moreover,” announce a new point without establishing a logical relationship to the previous one. Organise the essay around two or three connected reasons, and use each paragraph to explain one reason with a relevant example.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The response uses some topic-related vocabulary, including “teacher,” “education system,” “guidance and support,” and the names of the four language skills. This gives the reader a general sense of the subject. However, vocabulary is often repetitive, especially repeated forms of “English,” “improve,” and “important,” and several word choices or collocations make the intended meaning difficult to identify. Phrases such as “dircet people on society,” “prepare the learning,” and “simple wording” are unclear in context. Spelling errors, including “parctice,” “writting,” “voculbary,” and “listieneng,” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise set of phrases for discussing independent learning, such as “study independently,” “set learning goals,” and “receive feedback,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including “People should have proper knowledge and should make responsible decisions” and a sentence beginning “For example.” However, control of sentence structure is inconsistent, and several sentences are difficult to follow because clauses are joined or formed incorrectly. For instance, “The main reason is that english is very difficult studies can have…” lacks a clear grammatical connection between its ideas, while “It will have to must tutor in english” does not form a complete, accurate sentence. There are also recurring problems with verb forms and agreement, as in “It mainly depend.” Practise writing clear subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses using accurate patterns such as “because” or “although.” Review articles, verb agreement, and sentence punctuation.
