Student answer (Band 5.5)
the huge number students select English as a subject independently on a self study basis. and they do not attend the proper classes throughout the year. they thing that they do not neend any assistance from the teacher they prepared exams without the guidance of teacher.
in my opinion such kind of students are over confident i do not thing so student understand subjects tips and tricks without teacher. They definitely face hurdles to manage their studies.
as i am serving as a lecturer at the Government college, i observe students nature and psyche. The large number of students get admission in government college but fewer of them are regular. majority of srudents think they can manage their studies specially english on their own. but when the exams they got panic and comes to us for gusses. and as i see most of them got supply in english just because their neglegence and overconfidence.
one more thing in my country, students have the habit of "ratta" instead of smart work and understanding tips and tricks they waste their time on unnecessary notes and lectures. moreover students rely on 5 years past papers they have concept that if they prepared or lean theses past papers they can pass their exam. Because of this they miss their classes and buy these papers before one week of their exam and thing it enough for the preparation.
in my opinion student can not manage his studies with out the assistance of teacher. he should seek help and guidence from his teacher

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: you agree that students struggle to manage independent English study without a teacher. The lecturer’s observations and the example of students relying on past papers are relevant, and the response addresses both the choice to study independently and the difficulty that follows. This gives the argument a solid foundation. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained: for example, you say students “get panic” and fail English because of negligence and overconfidence, but do not show precisely how teacher guidance would prevent this. The discussion of “ratta” could also be linked more directly to the question. Develop these connections and add a specific example to make the support more convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an opening, a clear opinion, supporting observations, and a concluding recommendation. The examples about irregular attendance and past-paper preparation help the reader follow your main argument. However, progression between ideas is not always clear. The opening repeats the idea of studying without a teacher, while the paragraph about “ratta” introduces a related but insufficiently connected point. Linking phrases such as “one more thing” and “moreover” are used, but they do not always show the precise relationship between claims. Several sentences run together without clear punctuation, making the sequence harder to follow. Use distinct paragraphs for each main reason and connect each example explicitly to your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “assistance,” “guidance,” “manage their studies,” “overconfidence,” and “past papers.” These choices communicate the central ideas, and terms such as “ratta” add context about study habits in your country. However, the range is limited and several expressions are repeated, particularly references to teachers, studies, and exams. Some word choices or collocations are unclear, such as “come to us for gusses” and “understanding tips and tricks”; spelling errors including “neend,” “srudents,” and “neglegence” also make the writing less fluent to read. Aim for more precise academic phrasing and check spelling carefully. For example, describe students as seeking “last-minute predictions” rather than using an unclear expression.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including a sentence beginning “as i am serving as a lecturer,” which introduces supporting context. However, control of sentence structure is inconsistent, and many sentences contain errors that make the reader work to understand the meaning. Examples include “the huge number students select” and “when the exams they got panic and comes to us,” where sentence construction, tense, and subject–verb agreement are problematic. Capitalisation and punctuation are also unreliable: several sentences begin with lowercase letters, and full stops are missing between ideas. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses with clear punctuation. Consistent past tense when describing observed exam behaviour would also improve clarity.
