Student answer (Band 6.0)
Although students find difficulties in managing their studies if their teachers don't help them, they prefer to study english by their own than atteding a regular course. I agree to a certain extent that, practising english privately is helpful for a student, however, I believe that guidance of a teacher for creating a proper foundation is more important.
English is the most common language worldwide and the fluency depends on practising it daily. For example, if a foreign student practice english regularly in their daily life, their fluency will be better in compare to other students, who are not regular. Moreover it is a universal language. So, many resources are available online for studying this subject and if a student uses those properly, it will be benefical for the students, studying this subject. These reasons influece a student to study english by himself.
On the other side, A teacher maintains a proper routine and a structure, while completing a course. In the meantime, he communicates with the students, solve their difficulties, guide them properly, and tracks their progress continuously. As a result, students maintain a proper routine and study regularly in order to complete the course, which eventually assist them on learning the language and creating a appropiate foundation. Moreover, students get suggestions from the teachers and know their problems precisely. As example, if a teacher assists a student on improving specific areas like speaking, listening, reading, or writing, where the student struggles, the learning process becomes quicker and a student can capture the language properly.
Practicing english independenlty have many advanatges on improving the language. However, for building a proper foundation and maintainting a routine with proper guidance, assistance of a teacher is very important.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: you agree only to a certain extent, recognising the value of independent practice while arguing that teacher guidance is important for a sound foundation. You address both sides and give relevant support, including online resources and a teacher helping with specific skills such as speaking and listening. This meets the task well overall. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained: for example, the claim that English is a universal language does not by itself show why self-study is effective, and the benefits of independent study could be illustrated more concretely. To strengthen the response further, develop each main reason with a clearer explanation or a specific example, while maintaining your balanced position throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your position, the second paragraph discusses independent study, the third focuses on teachers, and the conclusion restates your view. Linking phrases such as “Moreover,” “On the other side,” and “As a result” help signal relationships between ideas. This gives the essay a coherent progression. At times, however, connections feel mechanical or the reference is unclear. For instance, “These reasons influence a student to study English by himself” follows several broad claims without clearly distinguishing which reasons matter most. The long sentence beginning “In the meantime” also packs several teacher roles together. Use more precise links and divide lists of related points so each paragraph develops one main idea clearly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “fluency,” “resources,” “routine,” “progress,” and “foundation,” and you attempt some more specific expressions such as “struggles” and “specific areas.” This is enough to communicate your main ideas, but word choice, spelling, and collocation errors are noticeable and sometimes make the writing less natural. Examples include “atteding,” “benefical,” “influece,” and “independenlty,” as well as “capture the language,” which is not an idiomatic way to describe learning it. “Practising English privately” is also less natural than “studying English independently.” Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common word partnerships, especially for describing progress, guidance, and language learning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including conditional structures (“if a foreign student practice English regularly”) and clauses explaining results. The overall meaning is generally understandable, and you use some subordination effectively. However, errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction recur. For example, “a foreign student practice” should use a verb agreeing with the singular subject, while “he communicates … solve their difficulties” shifts from a singular verb to an uninflected one. The opening sentence also has an awkward comparison structure, and “Practicing English independently have” has a subject–verb agreement problem. Review agreement and keep subjects consistent within long sentences; then proofread articles and sentence boundaries to improve control.
