Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You take a clear position in the introduction by saying, “I totally agree” that teacher help is necessary, and you give relevant reasons, including feedback on mistakes and the opportunity to ask questions. These points address the central issue, but the response only partly develops the task: the discussion of why students choose independent study (“save time” and dislike formal classes) is not clearly connected to whether they can manage without a teacher. The claim that such students “are smart people” is unsupported, and the conclusion introduces further claims about their mentality without explaining them. To strengthen the response, explain more fully how teacher guidance affects learning and directly weigh this against the benefits or limitations of studying independently.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs beginning “On the one hand” and “On the other hand,” and a conclusion, so the reader can identify its broad structure. However, the progression within paragraphs is often unclear: the first body paragraph moves from students’ preferences to claims that they are smart and short of time without showing how these ideas relate. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Therefore,” and “finally” are repeated or used where the relationship between ideas is not clear. The conclusion also repeats earlier points rather than bringing them together. Organise each paragraph around one main idea, explain the connection between supporting sentences, and use referencing and transitions more precisely.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt vocabulary relevant to education, including “formal course,” “feedback,” “mistakes,” and “guidance,” and some of these choices communicate the topic clearly. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices or collocations make parts difficult to understand, such as “perform higher better academic activities,” “enhance their self,” and “the teacher assistance.” Spelling errors, including “faclitation,” “eveluate,” and “conclution,” also reduce clarity. Aim to use familiar words accurately before reaching for more complex expressions, and learn common combinations such as “provide feedback,” “improve their skills,” and “manage their studies.” Proofreading for spelling and word forms would make your meaning more reliable.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You use some simple sentences and attempt longer structures with reasons and examples, such as “Due to the fact of, tutors will…” However, many sentence patterns are faulty, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction sometimes make the meaning hard to follow. Examples include “students interests,” “without attend a formal course,” “teacher respond,” and “these students has not.” Some sentences are also fragments or are joined awkwardly, as in “Because the these dislikes the formal class they are smart people.” Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences, then add one clause at a time using “because,” “although,” or “so.” Check agreement and verb forms carefully when revising.
