Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You take a position—“I completely disagree”—and give relevant reasons, including confidence, flexibility, cost, and difficulties with motivation and speaking practice. However, the position is not sustained clearly: the conclusion says students face challenges but also benefit, without resolving how this supports your disagreement. Several points are listed rather than explained; for example, the use of apps is mentioned, but you do not show specifically how they help students manage their studies. The response also contains 227 words, so it does not meet the 250-word minimum; 24 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop fewer reasons with specific examples, and make the conclusion directly restate your answer to the question.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting benefits and drawbacks, and a conclusion, so there is a basic attempt to organise the discussion. Connectors such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help signal these sections. However, progression within paragraphs is difficult to follow because many ideas are crowded together, and links between them are often unclear. The conclusion repeats ideas about challenges and confidence without showing how they lead to your final position. Some transitions, such as “a part frome this” and “fathermore,” do not clearly connect the surrounding points. Use one main idea per paragraph, explain it in a logical sequence, and check that each linking phrase accurately expresses the relationship between ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “motivation,” “confidence,” “listening skills,” and “time management,” and you refer to practical study tools such as apps. However, the range is limited and many spelling errors or inaccurate word choices make parts of the response difficult to understand, for example “douta,” “lace of motivation,” and “fathermore.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “study at they on pace” and “by own self.” These problems sometimes strain the reader’s effort to understand your meaning. Build a reliable set of topic vocabulary and check spelling and collocations carefully. Prefer clear, accurate expressions over attempting a more complicated phrase when you are unsure of its form.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including a contrast introduced by “On the other hand,” but control of sentence structure is very limited. Errors in agreement, sentence formation, articles, and punctuation occur frequently and sometimes obscure meaning. For example, “many learner choose” lacks plural agreement, while “student can understend they are douta” does not form a clear grammatical sentence. Several ideas are joined without clear sentence boundaries, as in the long sequence about apps and study benefits. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine related ideas using clauses such as “because” or “although.” Check subject–verb agreement, articles, and full stops before adding more complex structures.
