Student answer (Band 4.5)
Mostly students want to study independently becuase they think the the english subject is easy for them. But this is not fair. Becuase without and instructor i think this is not possible to learn english independently. I talk about this for the past students. In the presesnt a huge students want to study independently becuase they think that they are over smart. They use different tools to study like youtube, google,MetaAi or Chatgbt etc. Therefore mostly students think that they can study english independently. There are many advantages or disadvantages. The benefits is that if the student realy want to study independently. He need to work properly and get help through meta Ai, Deepseek or chatgbt Etc. The disadvantages is that many students dont afford to work independently they think that they are good

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You address the topic by discussing independent English study and mentioning both possible benefits and disadvantages. However, your position is not clearly established: “without and instructor i think this is not possible” suggests strong disagreement, while the later discussion of benefits does not explain whether you agree that students struggle without a teacher. The ideas are also minimally developed; for example, you name YouTube and AI tools but give no specific example of how they help or where they fail. The response is substantially below the required 250 words, so it cannot provide the reasons and relevant examples needed to answer the question fully. State your degree of agreement clearly, then develop two focused reasons with explanations and examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: you introduce independent study, mention study tools, and then refer to advantages and disadvantages. Some linking words, such as “But,” “Therefore,” and “The disadvantages,” show how you intend to connect points. However, the ideas are not arranged in a clear progression, and several statements repeat the same point that students choose to study independently. The shift from saying this is “not possible” to listing benefits is not explained, and the final disadvantage is left unfinished. Use separate paragraphs for your position, reasons, and conclusion, and make each sentence build on the previous one rather than repeating it.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
Your vocabulary is basic but generally relevant to the topic, with terms such as “independently,” “instructor,” “advantages,” and “disadvantages.” You also identify current learning resources, including YouTube and AI tools, which helps keep the response connected to the subject. However, the same words and ideas recur, and some expressions are imprecise or unnatural, such as “over smart,” “a huge students,” and “work properly.” Spelling and capitalization errors—including “becuase,” “presesnt,” and inconsistent forms of “English”—also reduce accuracy. Build a wider set of precise phrases for explaining learning outcomes, such as “receive structured guidance” or “identify persistent errors,” and check spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You communicate mainly through short, simple statements, and the reader can usually identify the general topic. There is an attempt to use a conditional structure in “if the student realy want to study independently,” but the sentence is not controlled accurately. Agreement and sentence construction errors occur frequently: “The benefits is” should use a plural verb, and “many students dont afford to work independently” needs a grammatical construction such as “many students cannot manage independent study.” Some sentence boundaries are also unclear, as in “But this is not fair. Becuase…” Aim first for accurate simple sentences, then practise joining ideas with correctly formed clauses. Check subject–verb agreement, articles, and punctuation before adding more complex structures.
