Student answer (Band 5.5)
A large amount of individuals likes to learn English on their own than taking class as a subjects but, they face struggles while understanding various topic without guidances of teachers. Regarding my opinion, I competely agree with this statement because of the several rules in topics and not having a person to communicate in English.
To begin with, there are various reason why students have difficulties in personal while studying English. The first factor is it includes varities of rules in simple topic. To explain, Knowing all the rules of any thing can be a grat struggle for a single person to understand every little items. Similarly, the another reason is not having another person to communicate. Elaborating further, while studying English, communicating is the main part where people lack.
Although, many people are still in best position without the consultation of others and without any help from another but, it cannot be applied on all the students because every person have their own learning methods and ideas where some needs to be guided by teachers and needs competitve area to do better in any things justl like me because I do more and work hard and get harder question in a second, if someone is competiting with me.
In conclusion, English is the subject that can be learned in both in personal or while taking a class with proper guidance. From my perspective, I believe, with the lecturers, individuals can have a conversation with in a minute they understand the rules of the topic and it also creates competitve environment in the class to be better than their colleagues and it impact in a positive way where they undrerstand English without having difficulties and learn effortlessly.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you “completely agree” that independent learners can struggle without a teacher, and you give relevant reasons, including difficulty understanding rules and lacking someone to practise communication with. You also acknowledge that some learners can succeed independently, which adds balance. However, the reasons are only partly developed. For example, the point about communication is stated but not illustrated with a specific situation or example, and the paragraph about competition shifts towards your personal motivation without clearly explaining how this supports the main argument. To strengthen the response, explain each reason in more detail and connect examples directly to the challenges of managing independent study.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph presenting difficulties, a contrasting point, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “Similarly,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the argument. However, some links feel mechanical, and progression is not always smooth. The paragraph beginning “Although” contains several ideas—independent success, different learning methods, teacher guidance, and competition—without clearly separating or developing them. Some references, such as “it” in “it includes varieties of rules,” are also unclear. Organise each body paragraph around one main point, then use a clear explanation or example before moving to the next idea.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use vocabulary relevant to education and language learning, including “guidance,” “communicating,” “consultation,” and “competitive environment.” These choices show an attempt to discuss the topic beyond very basic terms. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices or collocations make parts of the response difficult to interpret, such as “learn English on their own than taking class as a subjects,” “difficulties in personal,” and “get harder question in a second.” Spelling errors, including “competely,” “varities,” and “undrerstand,” also reduce accuracy. Aim to learn common academic collocations and check word forms and spelling; precise, natural phrasing will make your ideas easier to follow.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast introduced by “Although” and a reason clause with “because.” This gives the response some structural variety. However, complex sentences are often not controlled successfully, and errors in agreement, articles, plurals, and sentence construction occur throughout. For example, “every person have their own learning methods” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “the another reason” and “in both in personal” show problems with grammatical forms and sentence patterns. Punctuation also sometimes creates awkward breaks, as in “Although, many people…” Practise building shorter, accurate sentences first, then combine related ideas using one clear subordinate clause at a time.
