Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the task by identifying the main features of the graph. However, the analysis is quite mechanical, simply listing data points for each category without synthesizing the information effectively. While the overview identifies that car crime has the highest perceived danger, it lacks a more nuanced comparison between the categories or a clear summary of the trends over the two periods. The data reporting is accurate, but the lack of analytical depth prevents a higher score. To improve, focus on grouping data to highlight significant differences rather than listing every figure sequentially.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into an introduction, body, and conclusion, which provides a basic structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is repetitive and sometimes awkward, such as 'To embark with' and 'moreover' used at the start of almost every sentence. The progression of ideas is somewhat disjointed because the sentences are primarily lists of statistics rather than flowing arguments or comparisons. Paragraphing is present, but the internal flow within paragraphs needs to be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and better referencing to connect the data points logically.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'perceived crime' and 'actual crime' are used repeatedly, and there are spelling errors such as 'lilelihood' and 'represent' (should be 'represents'). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate flexibility, relying on basic descriptors. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more varied terminology to describe trends, such as 'figures for,' 'the proportion of,' 'remained stable,' or 'exceeded.' The current vocabulary is adequate for basic communication but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains several grammatical errors that affect the clarity of the writing. There are subject-verb agreement issues, such as 'The given bar graph represent' (should be 'represents') and 'highest crime in car crime' (should be 'the highest rate was for car crime'). Sentence structures are mostly simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence forms. Punctuation is generally functional, but the phrasing is often unnatural. To improve, focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and attempting more complex sentence structures, such as using relative clauses or subordinating conjunctions to combine related ideas.
