Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response attempts to summarise the data but struggles to present a clear overview. While it identifies some figures, the reporting is often inaccurate or confusing, such as stating that violent crime and burglary have the same perceived danger levels, which is not clearly supported by the graph. The comparison between perceived and actual likelihood is attempted but lacks precision. To improve, you should focus on identifying the most significant trends and differences rather than listing every data point, and ensure that your summary accurately reflects the visual information provided.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or misused, such as 'To commence' and 'To conclusion', which are not standard academic transitions. Referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow which data points relate to which crime types. The structure lacks a clear introduction and a cohesive overview, which hinders the overall flow of information.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You rely heavily on basic terms like 'crime', 'percentage', and 'range'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'the range of victim was 15%' instead of 'the perceived likelihood was 15%'. The phrasing is often unnatural, which limits your ability to convey information precisely. To reach a higher band, you need to use a wider range of vocabulary related to data description, such as 'proportion', 'fluctuated', 'remained constant', and 'significantly higher'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the ratios are mention'), incorrect preposition usage, and awkward sentence structures. The use of complex sentences is limited and often results in errors, such as 'although , the violent crime was same form burglary'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with spaces placed incorrectly before commas. You need to focus on basic sentence construction and proofreading to eliminate these frequent errors.
