Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

You have successfully identified the main features of the graph, including the trends for both perceived and actual crime rates. You provided a clear overview and supported your points with relevant data from the chart. However, the response could be improved by making more direct comparisons between the perceived danger and the actual likelihood of crime, as the prompt asks for comparisons where relevant. For instance, noting the significant gap between the high perceived danger and the much lower actual likelihood for all categories would have strengthened the analysis. Overall, you covered all parts of the task well.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction followed by separate paragraphs for perceived and actual crime rates. You used cohesive devices such as 'Similarly', 'Regarding', and 'Moreover' to link your ideas effectively. The progression of information is easy to follow. To reach a higher band, ensure that your referencing is always precise; for example, in the second paragraph, 'both figures were alike' is slightly vague. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate and the flow of information is coherent throughout the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 7.0

You used a sufficient range of vocabulary to describe the data, such as 'illustrates', 'marked', 'mildly', and 'remained stable'. These choices are appropriate for an Academic Task 1 report. There are a few minor inaccuracies, such as 'decrease trend' (should be 'downward trend' or 'decreasing trend') and 'decrease rate' (should be 'decreasing rate'). While these do not impede communication, using more precise collocations would enhance your score. You have a good grasp of the necessary terminology for describing trends and statistics.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0

You demonstrated a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. Most of your sentences are clear and error-free, which allows for easy reading. There are some minor grammatical slips, such as 'there was roughly 21% of perceived rate' (should be 'the perceived rate was roughly 21%') and 'over the 2 years period' (should be 'over the 2-year period'). Despite these occasional errors, your control of grammar is generally good, and your punctuation is accurate. You have used a variety of structures that are sufficient for this task.
