Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the task by identifying the main features of the graph, such as the high perceived danger of car crime compared to actual likelihood. However, the reporting of data is inconsistent and at times inaccurate. For instance, the claim that 'violent crime and burglary crime records lowest figures which are about 15 percent' is confusing, as it conflates perceived and actual data points. The description of the data is somewhat mechanical and lacks a clear, analytical overview that synthesizes the trends effectively. To improve, ensure that data points are clearly distinguished between 'perceived' and 'actual' categories and that comparisons are made more precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The response is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the logical progression between sentences is often weak. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes repetitive (e.g., 'the percentage of...'). Transitions like 'However' and 'On the other hand' are used, but they do not always accurately reflect the relationship between the ideas being presented. The referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult to track which specific data point is being discussed. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear thematic focus would enhance the flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task but remains quite basic and repetitive. Phrases like 'highest number of percentage' and 'lowest crime ratio' are somewhat awkward and imprecise. There is a lack of variety in reporting verbs and descriptive language. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise terminology related to data description, such as 'proportion,' 'incidence,' 'fluctuated,' or 'remained stable,' and avoid repeating the same sentence structures throughout the text.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include missing articles (e.g., 'victim of crime'), incorrect preposition usage (e.g., 'above to 20 percent'), and subject-verb agreement errors (e.g., 'crime records lowest figures'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around commas and periods. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for small errors would be beneficial.
