Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the graph, identifying the key trend that perceived danger consistently outweighs actual likelihood. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. While you mention the percentages for 2009 and 2010, the data reporting is occasionally imprecise (e.g., stating 'approximately 2.5%' for the difference in burglary and violent crime without clearly contrasting the specific figures). To reach a higher band, ensure you provide more precise data points from the graph to support your comparisons. The overview is present but could be more clearly integrated to highlight the most significant differences between the categories.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, with a clear introduction, overview, body paragraphs, and conclusion. The progression of ideas is generally easy to follow. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally repetitive. For example, the phrase 'percentage of' is used frequently, and some transitions between sentences feel slightly disjointed. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'the latter', 'this trend') is used more effectively would enhance the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey the main points, such as 'perceived danger', 'actual likelihood', and 'substantial difference'. However, there are some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'actual victim to perceiving of being a victim ratio' and 'stayed even throughout different crimes'. These errors do not impede communication, but they limit the precision of your report. To improve, focus on using more natural collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing by using synonyms or more concise descriptive language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical inaccuracies, such as 'perceived being a victim of a car crimes' (incorrect article/pluralization) and 'compared to the 16% in 2010' (missing subject). Additionally, some phrasing is slightly ungrammatical, such as 'the percentage for actually being a victim was less than perceiving of being one'. These errors occur frequently enough to be noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. Increasing your control over prepositions and article usage will help improve your score.
