Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to summarize the graph but fails to provide a clear, accurate overview. While it identifies the general trend that perceived danger is higher than actual likelihood, the specific data points are often inaccurate or confusingly presented. For example, the claim that perceived danger is '5 times higher' is not clearly supported by the data provided. Furthermore, the description of the trends for specific crimes is vague and contains inaccuracies regarding the figures. To improve, you must ensure that the data cited is precise and that the comparison between categories is logical and easy to follow. The report lacks a clear summary of the key features, making it difficult for the reader to grasp the main trends.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow of ideas is disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'noticable feature'. The transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is weak, and the logical progression of information is hindered by unclear sentence structures. While there is an attempt to group information, the lack of clear signposting makes the relationship between the different crime types and the years difficult to track. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear focus would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and contains numerous spelling errors, such as 'noticable', 'acutal', 'cirmes', 'prectange', 'predicated', 'liekliood', and 'precieved'. These errors are frequent and occasionally impede the reader's understanding. The range of vocabulary is basic, and there is a lack of precision in describing the data. To reach a higher band, you need to focus on accurate spelling and expanding your range of academic vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'fluctuation', 'significant', 'marginal', or 'discrepancy'. The current reliance on repetitive and misspelled words limits the effectiveness of your communication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement, sentence fragments, and incorrect word forms. For example, 'The highst precieved danger is was in Car crime' is grammatically incoherent. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the simple sentences used often contain errors in punctuation and tense. To improve, you should focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like subject-verb agreement and word order. Increasing the variety of your sentence structures while maintaining accuracy is essential for achieving a higher score in this criterion.
