Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement score. Because the text is only 78 words long, the information is severely underdeveloped. The response attempts to summarise the main features but fails to cover the data comprehensively, omitting significant comparisons and failing to report on all crime types mentioned in the prompt. The overview is present but lacks the necessary depth to provide a clear summary of the trends. To improve, you must ensure you describe all categories provided in the graph and provide a more detailed analysis of the data points to meet the length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response shows some attempt at logical organization with an introduction and a body paragraph. However, the progression of ideas is hindered by the lack of sufficient content. Cohesive devices are used in a very mechanical and repetitive way, such as the use of 'Firstly'. The paragraphing is insufficient, and the overall structure feels incomplete due to the abrupt ending. To improve, focus on using a wider range of linking words to connect your ideas more fluidly and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, developed focus.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and contains several errors in word formation and spelling, such as 'expirenced' instead of 'experienced', 'percievence' instead of 'perception', and 'approximetely' instead of 'approximately'. The range of vocabulary is basic and repetitive, which restricts the ability to convey information precisely. To improve, you should focus on learning the correct spelling of common academic terms and practice using more varied vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'a significant disparity'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Examples include 'perceived crime rates are always seems higher', which contains a subject-verb agreement error, and 'Car crime is showed', which is an incorrect passive construction. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the punctuation is inconsistent. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of passive voice, before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
