Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the ability to fully develop the task. While you have identified some data points, the summary is incomplete and lacks a clear overview of the main trends. The description of the data is often inaccurate, such as stating that 'violent crime is same as Burglary' without specifying the context, and the comparison between perceived and actual likelihood is not clearly articulated. To improve, ensure you provide a comprehensive summary of all categories and clearly distinguish between the two sets of data provided in the graph.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a logical flow. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the progression of ideas is disjointed. Cohesive devices are used in a mechanical and often incorrect way, such as 'While on the other side' and 'In addition', which do not accurately reflect the relationship between the data points. The referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between perceived and actual crime rates. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear focus would greatly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often imprecise. Phrases like 'sufferer of a illegal act' and 'massive increased' are grammatically incorrect and unnatural. There is a reliance on basic vocabulary, and the misuse of terms like 'perceived years' and 'actual years' indicates a lack of understanding of the data labels. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more precise terminology related to data description, such as 'proportion', 'rate', 'significant', and 'fluctuated', and ensure that your word choices are contextually appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede communication. There are issues with article usage ('the car crime'), subject-verb agreement ('the violent crime is same as Burglary'), and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or lack the necessary complexity expected at higher levels. For example, 'The Burglary is 15% in the perceived 2009/10 then massive jumped of the car crime' is syntactically confused. You should focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including correct verb tenses and prepositions, before attempting more complex structures.
