Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to summarise the data but struggles with clarity and accuracy. While you identify the three crime types, the description of the figures is often confusing or mathematically incorrect based on the provided graph. For example, stating that 'car crime is the major crime which done most by victims' is a vague interpretation of the perceived danger. Furthermore, the attempt to compare 2009 and 2010 data is difficult to follow due to imprecise reporting of percentages. To improve, focus on selecting the most significant trends and reporting them with precise data points, ensuring your comparisons are logically structured and easy for the reader to verify against the graph.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical flow is hampered by awkward phrasing and a lack of cohesive devices. Transitions between sentences are often abrupt, such as 'After analyising the data it can be observed...' followed by a run-on sentence. The use of referencing is also unclear; for instance, it is not always evident which year or crime category is being discussed. To reach a higher band, use a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'in contrast', 'consequently', 'furthermore') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that guides the reader through the data.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and contains several errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'informations', 'precieving', and 'slighlty'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe trends accurately; for example, using 'grow up' to describe a statistical increase is informal and imprecise. You rely on basic terminology, which restricts your ability to convey the information with the necessary academic tone. Expanding your repertoire of reporting verbs and nouns related to data (e.g., 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', 'a significant proportion') would greatly enhance the quality of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement, missing articles, and incorrect sentence structure. Phrases like 'actual crime 2009 was seem below 5%' are grammatically incorrect and impede clarity. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and periods. The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors that make the meaning difficult to discern. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would be a good starting point for improvement.
