Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. The content is incomplete, as it only covers a small portion of the data (burglary) and stops abruptly during the description of car crime. The overview is poorly constructed and does not effectively summarise the main trends or make the necessary comparisons between perceived and actual crime rates. To improve, you must ensure you cover all categories presented in the graph and provide a clear, concise summary of the overall trends, ensuring the response reaches the required length.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The response lacks a logical structure. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the sentences are disjointed and the progression of ideas is unclear. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and often misused, such as 'First of all there are foul rectangle', which does not effectively link the information. The lack of a proper introduction and the abrupt ending make the text difficult to follow. To improve, focus on using transition words to connect your ideas and ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that guides the reader through the data.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive. There are significant errors in word choice and terminology, such as 'foul rectangle' instead of 'bars' or 'categories', and 'percentage' used incorrectly to describe raw data points. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the information accurately. To improve, you should learn specific terminology for describing graphs, such as 'proportion', 'rate', 'fluctuate', and 'significant difference', and practice using these in the context of data analysis.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammar is weak, with frequent errors that impede communication. There are issues with sentence structure, such as 'the graph is discuss crime type', and incorrect use of articles and prepositions. Many sentences are fragmented or lack proper subject-verb agreement. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple, error-prone sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles. Proofreading for basic grammatical slips before finishing your response is essential.
