Student answer (Band 6.5)
The given Illustration displays, the likelihood of perceived danger and likelihood of being a victim of crime . The graph shows the data across a span of 2 to 3 years which is for the year 2009/10 and for the year 2010/2011 . For each case, it has been observed that the perceived danger of all types of crime is much more then, the likelihood of being an actual victim of the same crime .
In the year 2009/10 , the perceived danger of burglary was 15 percent ,while less then 5 percent (around 2.5 percent) of the people became it's actual victim. The perceived danger of car crime for the same year was highest among all the types of crime given in this data at around 20 percent . Meanwhile, the actual likelihood of being a car crime victim remains just below 5 percent (around 4.5 percent) but still higher then likelihood of burglary or violent crime. Furthermore, the perceived rate of violent crime was around 15 percent , and the actual likelihood of being it's victim sits at below 5 percent (around 3 percent) , slightly greater then burglary but less then car crime.
moving forward to the year 2010/11 , the statistics for the likelihood of being a victim of crime remains almost same (below 5 percent) for all the crimes with a slight increased in burglary and a little decrement in car crime . Meanwhile, the perceived danger for these crimes , had a noticeable drop . Perceived danger of Burglary dropped to around 13 percent , while that of car crime dropped to around 17.5 percent and furthermore perceived danger of violent crime dropped to around 14 percent.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response covers all parts of the task well. You have successfully identified the main features, such as the consistent gap between perceived danger and actual likelihood, and made relevant comparisons between the two years and the three crime types. The data is accurately reported, and the overview is clear. To reach a higher band, ensure that the distinction between the two years is even more sharply defined, perhaps by grouping the data more effectively to highlight the trends rather than listing figures for each year separately. Overall, the response is well-developed and meets the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. You use paragraphing effectively to separate the introduction from the body paragraphs. Cohesive devices such as 'meanwhile', 'furthermore', and 'moving forward' are used to link sentences and ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing could be smoother. For example, the phrase 'became it's actual victim' is a bit clunky. Improving the variety of cohesive devices and ensuring they flow more naturally would enhance the overall coherence of the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'perceived danger', 'actual likelihood', and 'decrement'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'it's actual victim' (should be 'its') and 'much more then' (should be 'much higher than'). The repetition of 'around' and 'percent' is noticeable. To improve, try to incorporate more varied synonyms for 'increase' and 'decrease' and ensure that you are using comparative structures correctly (e.g., 'higher than' instead of 'higher then').
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. Common issues include the misuse of 'then' instead of 'than', incorrect use of apostrophes (e.g., 'it's' instead of 'its'), and some awkward phrasing like 'the statistics... remains almost same'. Punctuation errors, such as unnecessary commas before 'the likelihood' or after '15 percent', also occur. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and the correct usage of comparative adjectives and conjunctions.
