Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers the main features of the graph, including the comparison between perceived and actual crime rates. However, the analysis is hampered by significant inaccuracies in data interpretation. For instance, you state that car theft perceived in 2010/11 was 'just less approximately 3%', whereas the graph shows it is clearly above 20%. Additionally, the description of the data is somewhat confusing, particularly the claim that actual crime rates were a 'quarter of all of perceived'. While you attempt to report the main features, the misreading of the data points prevents a higher score. To improve, ensure you carefully verify the figures against the axes before writing.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. Cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'To begin with', and 'Moreover' are used to signal the structure. However, the flow is occasionally disrupted by awkward phrasing and unclear referencing, such as 'in both the cases' and 'in comparison of actual thief of car rates'. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the internal cohesion within sentences is sometimes mechanical or imprecise, which limits the clarity of the progression.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task but contains several errors in word choice and form. You use 'thief' (a person) instead of 'theft' (the crime) throughout the text. Other errors include 'aceptation' (likely meant 'expectation') and 'retes' (spelling error for 'rates'). These errors are frequent enough to cause some confusion for the reader. To reach a higher band, focus on using precise terminology related to statistics and crime, and ensure you distinguish between nouns and verbs correctly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Examples include 'begin a victim' instead of 'being a victim', 'numbers of crimes were consider' instead of 'considered', and 'despite of that'. Subject-verb agreement and prepositional usage are inconsistent. While you attempt complex structures, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage.
