Student answer (Band 5.5)
The following bar graph illustrates the information about the number of peoples perceived to be the victim and actual victim categorized across three different crimes during the time period 2009 to 2011.
Firstly, in Burglary crime the number of perceived victims where about 15% and 13% in the respective years 2009-10 and 2010-11, However the actual number of victim were very much low about 3-4%.Similarly with the Violent crime, the figures were almost identical. In the first period of 2009-10 the figure show about 15% and then decreases to 13% next year , but the actual data was very low compared to the perceived, that was about 3-4% same as Burglary.
However, In the case of car crimes the number were too high.Though the actual number of victims is steady around 5% in both time period, but the perceived data is much higher than of actuall which is 21% and decreased to 17% in the next year.
To summarize, the actuall number of victims in every crime are statistically low than the perceived ones, but the car crimes are victims are higher in both the aspects.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The student successfully addresses all parts of the task by reporting the main features of the chart and making relevant comparisons between perceived and actual crime likelihood. An overview is provided in the final paragraph, which accurately highlights that actual crime figures are statistically lower than perceived ones across all categories, with car crimes being the highest in both aspects. Key data points, such as the 21% perceived figure for car crime in 2009-10 and the ~3-4% actual figures for burglary and violent crime, are correctly identified and cited from the chart. The comparison between the two years is also handled adequately, satisfying the requirements for Task Achievement at a Band 6.5 level, rounded to 6.0 due to slight generalisations in the data reporting.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response exhibits a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical progression from an introduction to body paragraphs detailing specific crimes, and finally a summary conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised adequately, with each body paragraph focusing on a distinct crime type or group of crimes. Cohesive devices are employed to connect ideas, such as "Firstly", "However", and "Similarly with the violent crime". However, some referencing is slightly mechanical or faulty, as seen in minor awkwardness in transitions and punctuation errors around cohesive markers (e.g., missing spaces after periods). Overall, the organizational structure is clear enough to follow easily, supporting a Band 6.0 score.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as "perceived", "categorized", "statistically", and "identical". However, there are noticeable lexical and word-form errors throughout the text, such as "number of peoples perceived" instead of "people", "actuall" (misspelling of actual), and awkward phrasing like "the car crimes are victims are higher". Despite these inaccuracies, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the main message without impeding communication, fitting the Band 6 descriptor well.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some attempts at subordination and relative clauses (e.g., "that was about 3-4% same as Burglary"). There are several grammatical errors and punctuation slips present, including subject-verb agreement issues ("the number were too high", "the actual number of victim were very much low"), spelling errors, and missing spaces following full stops. While these errors occur frequently, they do not severely impede overall communication. The grammatical control aligns with the requirements for Band 6.0.
