Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Perceived and actual likelihood of being a victim of crime: by crime type

Perceived and actual likelihood of being a victim of crime: by crime type

Student answer (Band 5.0)

The bar chat illustrate the percentage of Perceived & actual likelihood of being a victim of crime: by crime type. The bar chat shows the proportion of some crime types.

Overall, a glance at the graph reveals that the crime perceived is not actually real. Crime rate is low in comparison to the rate of perceived. The bar chat illustrate that the car crime is the huge crime that happened.

In the bar graphs the burglary crime it was 15%-13% by perceived but actually it was 3%-3.5%. Like wise the car crime was 21%-16% by the observer but in reality it was 4%. The last crime illustrated in the bar graph was Violent crime. This crime was assumed 13%-15% but actually it was around 4%. Car crime is assumed to be the major crime in this bar graph.

Therefore, the bar graphs clearlly highlights that the crime is not happend that much as from view of perceived.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the task only partially, presenting an attempt to summarise the bar chart comparing perceived and actual likelihood of crime. However, the information provided is limited, imprecise, and features inaccurate data reporting. For instance, the student states that burglary perceived was 15%-13% and actual was 3%-3.5%, whereas the chart shows figures around 15.5% and 13% for perceived, and 2% and 2.5% for actual. Furthermore, the overview is overly simplistic, stating only that 'crime perceived is not actually real,' and lacks a comprehensive summary of the main trends. The details provided are under-developed and generalise excessively without accurately capturing the precise differences between the categories.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation evident in the division into paragraphs, with an introduction, body, and conclusion, but the text lacks a clear overall progression. Cohesive devices are used very mechanically and repetitively, as seen in the frequent, awkward repetition of phrases like 'The bar chat' and 'In the bar graphs.' Paragraphing is attempted, but the body paragraphs lack logical sequencing and fail to group information effectively. Reference pronouns are sometimes unclear, and the overall flow is disjointed, which hinders the reader's ability to follow the comparison smoothly.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The lexical range is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The student attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'proportion,' 'observer,' and 'reality,' but these are accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'the crime perceived is not actually real' and 'car crime is the huge crime that happened.' Additionally, there is a recurring spelling error ('chat' instead of 'chart') and awkward phrasing like 'crime that is not happend that much.' These lexical inaccuracies occasionally cause difficulty for the reader and prevent the response from achieving a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing displays a very limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and basic subject-verb patterns. Attempts at complex or longer sentences are often faulty, as demonstrated in awkward constructions like 'the burglary crime it was 15%-13% by perceived but actually it was 3%-3.5%.' There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including incorrect prepositions ('by the observer', 'from view of perceived'), missing articles, tense inconsistencies, and word form errors such as 'clearlly' and 'happend'. These persistent errors cause noticeable difficulty and strain for the reader.
