Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response only partially addresses the task requirements and fails to meet the minimum word count of 150 words, finishing abruptly mid-sentence at 116 words. While you attempted to highlight main features such as identifying car crime as having the highest percentages, the information is somewhat limited and under-developed. For instance, your description of the data for burglary and violent crime lacks sufficient detail, and the incomplete final sentence prevents a full summary of the actual likelihoods. To improve towards a higher band, you must ensure you write at least the minimum required word count, develop your comparisons more thoroughly across all categories, and provide a complete overview without cutting off.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response shows some basic organization with an initial overall statement followed by body details, but there is no clear overall progression due to the incomplete ending. Cohesive devices are used minimally and repetitively, such as 'whereas' to contrast data points. Paragraphing is attempted, but the final section is left hanging as a fragment rather than a fully formed concluding thought. Referencing is occasionally confusing, as seen in phrases like 'between burglary and voilent crime' where the logical connection is weak. To enhance cohesion, ensure that every paragraph has a clear topic sentence, use a wider variety of transitional markers to link your ideas smoothly, and make sure your text reaches a natural and complete conclusion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

Your vocabulary range is limited but minimally adequate for describing the basic chart trends. You made some noticeable word choice and spelling errors that occasionally cause difficulty, such as 'subjective idea' instead of 'perception', 'percieved' and 'voilent' (spelling errors), and 'gien' instead of 'given'. While you attempted some task-specific vocabulary like 'percentage', 'victim', and 'likelihood', the awkward phrasing in sentences such as 'the reality of a victim in crime scene' restricts precision. To achieve a higher band, you should expand your range of less common lexical items, pay closer attention to natural collocations when discussing data, and carefully check your spelling and word forms before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple constructions alongside some faulty attempts at complex sentences. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('car crime have' instead of 'has'), preposition errors ('in crime scene' instead of 'of being a victim of crime'), and article omissions. Furthermore, punctuation and formatting errors appear in date representations like '2009\10'. Because these frequent errors occur alongside the incomplete final sentence, they can cause difficulty for the reader. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement, using appropriate prepositions with statistical data, and ensuring that every sentence you write is grammatically complete.
