Student answer (Band 5.0)

The given bar graph depics the ratio of estimated danger of crimes like: Burglary, Car crime and violent crime and the actual figure of victims who sufered in these kind of crimes.

Overall, It can be seen that the highest estimation of crime was Car crime just above 20 percentages in 2009 and 2010. Also the actual likelihood of being victim is also in the same page just below 5 percent. While the highest perceived in the year 2010/11 was also Car crime above 15 percent with the actual accurance of below 5 percent highest amongst the all in year.

The Burglary and violant crimes are both least perceived crimes almost the same ratio which is 15 or slightly upwards 15 in the year 2009/10, However the actual number of victims is lowest in Burglary which is somthing 2 and the violent crimes are also low but in figure it is 3.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the task only partially because the data reporting is incomplete and lacks accurate detail. While the student attempts to present an overview and mention the main crime types such as Car crime and Burglary, key features are under-developed or inaccurately described. For instance, the statement that car crime was 'just above 20 percentages' is imprecise, and the comparisons between perceived danger and actual likelihood lack clarity. To move to a higher level, you should ensure all major data points are accurately reported and clearly compared, providing a fully developed summary of the key trends rather than vague approximations.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The text shows some organisation with an attempt at paragraphing, but there is no clear overall progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are basic and sometimes repetitive, such as 'Also' and 'While'. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, making the logical connection between sentences awkward. For example, transitioning between sentences in the second paragraph feels abrupt and disjointed. To improve cohesion, you should use a wider variety of cohesive markers more naturally, ensure each paragraph has a distinct central topic, and carefully link your sentences so the reader can follow your comparisons effortlessly.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and barely adequate for the task. There are noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word form, such as 'depics' instead of depicts, 'sufered' instead of suffered, 'accurance' instead of occurrence, and 'violant' instead of violent. These errors sometimes cause difficulty for the reader. When attempting less common vocabulary, the inaccuracies become more apparent. To reach a higher band, you need to expand your lexical range, use precise terminology for data reporting, and check your spelling carefully before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

There is a very limited range of grammatical structures, and attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty. Frequent errors occur in prepositions and punctuation, such as missing commas after introductory phrases and awkward phrasing like 'in these kind of crimes' instead of 'in these kinds of crimes'. Sentences often lack structural variety and contain grammatical inaccuracies that can cause difficulty for the reader. To improve your grammar score, focus on mastering sentence patterns, reducing basic errors in verb forms, and varying your sentence structures with greater accuracy.
