Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the three crime types and make a relevant overall comparison: car crime has the highest perceived and actual figures, while perceived risk is much greater than actual victimisation. You also report the main perceived figures and their decline. However, the response is incomplete: the final sentence breaks off at “Actual has different pr”, and actual figures for burglary and violent crime are not properly compared. Some details are inaccurate or unclear, such as calling burglary and violent crime “the second highest” when they are tied, and describing the periods as “months.” The response is 109 words, below the 150-word minimum; nine words copied from the prompt were not counted. Include a complete account of the actual figures and finish the report.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic paragraph structure, with an introduction, an overview and paragraphs describing the data. This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, progression is limited because the comparisons are not consistently developed, and the final paragraph ends abruptly with “Actual has different pr,” leaving the discussion unfinished. Linking is also sometimes awkward: “However” does not clearly introduce a contrast in the overview, and the long sentence beginning “In 2009 10th month” joins several points with commas rather than clear sentence boundaries. Group the figures by crime type or by perceived versus actual likelihood, and use complete sentences with clear links such as “By contrast” and “Meanwhile” to make the comparisons easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “proportion,” “perceived,” “actual,” “decrease,” and “around,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to interpret. For example, “car crime had highest crime” does not express the intended comparison naturally, and “highest victim” is unclear. “Second highest” is also imprecise for burglary and violent crime, which are tied in the figures. There are spelling and form errors such as “percieved” and “yeas.” Use precise terms such as “perceived risk,” “actual victimisation rate,” and “joint second-highest,” and check spelling before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, and the opening sentence communicates the chart’s subject. However, the range is limited, and errors in sentence construction, tense, agreement and punctuation occur frequently enough to make some comparisons hard to follow. For example, “car crime had highest crime” is missing an article and has an unclear structure; “the perceived decrease” needs a finite verb form, while “has the highest perceived” shifts tense and leaves the noun unstated. The sentence beginning “In 2009 10th month” also runs together several clauses with commas. Use past-tense verbs consistently for the chart periods, include articles where needed, and separate each comparison into a complete sentence.
