Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the chart’s main contrast: perceived risk is much higher than actual victimisation, and car crime has the highest perceived figures. However, the account only partially reports the data and some comparisons are inaccurate or unclear. For example, you say burglary was “approximately by 5%” in 2009/10, but its perceived figure is about 15.5%; around 2% is the actual figure. You also describe perceived crime as “fluctuated,” although the perceived percentages fall across the two periods for all three categories. The overview would be stronger if it clearly stated that actual rates remain low and change only slightly, while perceived rates decline. Include accurate comparisons for each period to develop the key features more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic structure, moving from an introduction and overview to details about the two periods. Connectors such as “Overall,” “In contrast,” and “Moreover” show an attempt to guide the reader. However, progression is not consistently clear: the paragraph about 2009/10 mixes perceived and actual figures, and the final sentence combines several comparisons without making their relationships clear. Phrases such as “In the year 2009 and 2010” also make the time frame difficult to follow. Organise the details by period or by perceived versus actual likelihood, and keep each comparison together. Clearer referencing and more precise links between sentences would make the report easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “percentages,” “perceived,” “actual likelihood,” and “remained highest,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning difficult to interpret. Examples include “the perceived of being a victim,” “perceived crimes,” and “violent crime was more than burglary crimes nearly 5%.” Use the terms “perceived likelihood” and “actual likelihood” consistently, and describe figures as percentages or rates rather than as crimes. More precise verbs such as “declined,” “stood at,” and “exceeded” would help you report trends and comparisons clearly without repeating the same phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a contrast introduced by “In contrast” and a sentence beginning “Moreover.” However, grammatical errors are frequent, and some sentences are difficult to understand. For instance, “people who were victim of crimes” is missing an article, while “the highest is the perceived of being a victim” has an incomplete and incorrectly formed structure. The sentence “Violent crime was more than burglary crimes nearly 5%” also lacks a clear grammatical relationship between the figures. Work on articles, plural forms, and complete comparative structures. A reliable pattern is: “The perceived likelihood of car crime stood at 21%, compared with 4.5% actual likelihood.” Check each sentence for a clear subject and verb.
