Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main features and making relevant comparisons. You successfully highlighted the trends in export values and the percentage changes. However, the overview is slightly weak; while you mention the highest figure and the general trend, it could be more analytical by grouping the categories more effectively. The data is generally accurate, but ensure that the units (billions) are consistently applied to all figures to avoid ambiguity. Overall, you have provided a clear summary of the data provided in the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In contrast', 'Meanwhile', and 'Furthermore' to link ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For instance, the transition between the description of export values and the percentage changes in the final paragraph is a bit abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing is precise would help elevate the score in this criterion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'category', and 'illustrate'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'inclined in term of' instead of 'increased by', and '60 billion’s petroleum products' which is grammatically awkward. While you attempt to use more specific vocabulary, some phrasing remains slightly unnatural. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive structures when describing data trends.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('the highest figure', 'in case of Gems'), incorrect preposition usage ('inclined in term of'), and awkward phrasing ('the former one was nearly 30 billion and latter was just over 40'). While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. You should focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles to improve the overall accuracy of your writing.
