Student answer (Band 7.0)
The given charts illustrate the information about export earnings and percentage change in the values of different exported products in terms of billions and percentage over the period from [redacted phone].
From an overall perspective, it is evident that textiles recorded the maximum increase in value, while agricultural products accounted for the least increase.
Looking first at petroleum products, it can be seen that export earning were almost same in both years, which is more than 60 billion dollars. In 2016, the exports of all products are likely to rise. In 2015, the figure of engineered goods stood at less than 60 billion dollars before rising to almost 70 billion dollars. Similarly, other products such as, agricultural products and textiles witnessed a surge except gems and jewellery.
Turning to percentage change, all the products followed a different pattern. Textiles accounted for maximum increase of 15.24%, while agricultural goods recorded a small increase of just 0.81%. Petroleum products and engineered goods increased by 3% and 8.5 %, respectively. However, gems and jewellery was the only category which is declined by 5.18%.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully identified the main features of the data, including the overall trends and the specific percentage changes. You provided a clear overview and supported your points with data from the table. However, there are some inaccuracies in your interpretation of the data; for instance, you stated that 'the exports of all products are likely to rise' in 2016, but the table shows that gems and jewellery actually declined. Additionally, the date range '2015-1026' is a clear typo that should be corrected to 2016. To reach a higher band, ensure that your data reporting is perfectly aligned with the provided figures and avoid generalizations that contradict the specific data points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs that separate the export values from the percentage changes. You use cohesive devices such as 'Looking first at', 'Similarly', and 'However' to guide the reader through the information. Paragraphing is used appropriately to group related ideas. While the flow is generally good, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. To improve, ensure that the connection between the two paragraphs is more seamless and that the referencing (e.g., 'all the products followed a different pattern') is more precise to avoid ambiguity.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'export earnings', 'surge', and 'accounted for'. There are some minor errors in word choice, such as 'which is declined' instead of 'which declined'. You also attempt to use some less common vocabulary, but there is room for more precision and variety. To improve, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and ensure that your verb forms are accurate when describing trends. Avoiding repetitive phrasing will also help elevate your score in this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. However, there are several grammatical slips, such as 'export earning were almost same' (missing articles) and 'which is declined' (incorrect passive voice). The error in the date '2015-1026' is a significant distraction. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement, article usage, and tense consistency to ensure that your complex sentences are error-free.
