Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

You have successfully identified the main features of the data and provided a clear overview. You included relevant comparisons, such as noting the decrease in Gems and Jewellery versus the growth in other categories. However, to reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are accurate. For instance, you stated Petroleum products rose to 'above $60 billions' from 'previously at $60 billions', but the chart shows a 3% increase on a base that was clearly below 60. Precision in reporting figures is essential for Task 1. Overall, you have covered all parts of the prompt well.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

Your essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs that group information by category. You use cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'For Petroleum products', and 'In addition' (implied) to guide the reader. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the overview from the detailed analysis. To improve, ensure that the transition between sentences is smoother; some sentences feel slightly disconnected. Using a wider variety of linking words would help the flow of your writing, but the current structure is clear and easy to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'category', 'decline', and 'sector'. There are some minor errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'Jewellary' (Jewellery) and 'previoulsy' (previously). While you use some topic-specific vocabulary, you rely on fairly simple descriptors like 'good increase' or 'slightly good increase'. To achieve a higher band, try to incorporate more precise academic collocations to describe trends, such as 'a marginal rise' or 'a significant contraction', rather than relying on general adjectives.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are some grammatical slips, such as 'highest recorded value of exports is for' (missing articles: 'the highest') and 'from previously at $60 billions' (awkward phrasing). While these errors are present, they do not impede communication. Your control of punctuation is generally good, and the meaning remains clear throughout. To improve, focus on article usage and ensuring that your comparative structures are grammatically sound.
