below shows the value of one country’s exports in various categories during 2015 and 2016. The table shows the percentage change in each category of exports in 2016 compared with 2015.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 7.0)

The given bar graph illustrates the information about the number of exports of one country. This is depicted for the time period of 2015 and 2016.

The percentage of each category that was exported is represented. The various categories include petroleum products, engineered goods, gems and jewellery, agricultural products and textiles. In both years 2015 and 2016, petroleum was the most highly exported material. Overall, all goods recorded increasing demand in 2016 except gems and jewellery. By analysing, textile goods had the most profit of 15.24%, while there was a loss of 5.18% in exporting gems and jewellery.

In 2015, most of the export earnings came from materials like fuel, gas, petrol, etc. It had around 60 billion dollars of income. After that, engine resources contributed more than 65 billion dollars of money. Precious substances like gems and jewellery give approximately 55 billion dollars of export revenue. Agricultural products were not worth enough to provide more than 40 billion dollars. Last but not least, the lowest investment in the export of textile goods was only 35 billion dollars.

In 2016, petroleum products and engine parts had nearly equal earnings. It was around 65 billion dollars. There was a marked decrease of about 5.18% in precious ornaments and related materials. There was not a huge difference in the export demand for agricultural exports in both years. Only a 0.81% decrease was noted in 2016. Lastly, clothing goods had the highest increase of 15.24% in export value.
