Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main features of the data, identifying the overall trend of growth and the exception of gems and jewellery. However, the reporting of data is inconsistent and occasionally inaccurate. For instance, the text mentions 'agricultural products nearly 42%' and 'engineered products stood at approximately at 58%', but these figures are not clearly supported by the provided table context. Furthermore, the distinction between percentages and absolute values (billions) is confused, leading to a lack of clarity in the summary. While the main features are selected, the lack of precision in reporting the data prevents a higher score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. Cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'Similarly', and 'Turning to' are used to guide the reader. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing and mechanical transitions. For example, 'Other thing is also been noted that' is an unnatural way to introduce a point. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the internal cohesion within sentences is sometimes weak due to grammatical errors, which makes the progression of ideas feel slightly disjointed at times.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'percentile shift' instead of 'percentage change' and 'country has increase their export' (subject-verb agreement). The phrase 'shoots up' is too informal for an Academic Task 1 report. While the student attempts to use specific terminology like 'category' and 'proportion', the misuse of basic terms and the confusion between percentages and monetary values limit the effectiveness of the communication. More precise academic vocabulary is needed to describe trends accurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('country has increase'), incorrect preposition usage ('increase... with 3%'), and awkward sentence construction ('Other thing is also been noted that'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary commas appearing in several places. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. A greater focus on basic grammatical accuracy and sentence structure is required.
