Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement score. Furthermore, the response is incomplete, cutting off mid-sentence in the second paragraph. While you identified some main features, such as the export values for 2015, the analysis is underdeveloped and lacks a comprehensive summary of the percentage changes mentioned in the prompt. To improve, ensure you complete the task by covering all data categories and providing a clear, full overview. The current length and unfinished nature prevent a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay has a basic structure with an introduction and body paragraphs, but the abrupt ending disrupts the logical flow. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Overall' and 'In 2015', but they are somewhat mechanical. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the phrase 'vertical line Billion', which is not standard academic terminology. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words to connect ideas more fluidly and ensure that each paragraph is fully developed before moving to the next.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'items' and 'products' frequently. There are also issues with word formation and currency notation, such as 'billions $' and 'moderate exported item'. The phrasing 'vertical line' and 'horizontal line' is not appropriate for describing a table or graph. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise terminology related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'witnessed a rise', or 'accounted for'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains several grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('products names are mention') and incorrect pluralization ('billions dollars'). Sentence structures are mostly simple, and the attempt at a complex sentence in the final paragraph is incomplete. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the placement of currency symbols. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like missing articles and incorrect verb forms.
