Student answer (Band 5.0)
Given graph illustrates the amount between 2015 and 2016 of one country's exports in different types. The table demonstrates the variation of proportion in every kind of exports in comparison between 2016 and 2015.
Overall, the value of textiles is higher in both years 2015 and 2016, whereas, the lowest amount of exports are of agricultural products. The variation among all products is significant in both years.
Firstly, if we talk about petroleum products the earning was great, 8.5% earning occured in 2015 and 2016, which was not very low percentage of exports. Secondly, engineered goods showed a maximum fluctuation of about 3%, that amount was average.
The value of gems and jewellery was about 5.18% in both years, but if we talk about agricultural products the earning was 0.81% which was the lowest earning. In case of textiles, 15.24% exports occured in both years, which was highest amount in comparison to other goods exports in both years.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to summarise the data, but it fails to accurately interpret the provided information. The student incorrectly states that the export values were the same in both 2015 and 2016, ignoring the 'percentage change' column entirely. Furthermore, the data points cited are often inaccurate or confusingly presented (e.g., claiming 8.5% for petroleum in both years). The response lacks a clear overview of the trends and fails to make meaningful comparisons between the categories. The analysis is superficial and does not effectively highlight the main features of the data provided in the table.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'in both years' and 'if we talk about'. The transition between the overview and the body paragraphs is abrupt, and the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks cohesion, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison of the data. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow of ideas is disjointed.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'earning was great', 'not very low percentage', and 'that amount was average' are imprecise and lack the academic tone required for Task 1. There is little attempt to use a range of vocabulary to describe trends or data variations. The student relies on basic descriptors, and there are instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'variation of proportion in every kind of exports'. To improve, the student needs to incorporate more precise terminology related to data analysis, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'experienced a significant increase'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in article usage ('the lowest amount of exports are of agricultural products'), subject-verb agreement, and prepositional phrases. Some sentences are poorly constructed, such as 'Given graph illustrates the amount between 2015 and 2016 of one country's exports in different types.' Punctuation is generally functional, but the grammatical errors occasionally impede the clarity of the information being presented. A greater focus on sentence structure variety and proofreading for basic grammatical slips is necessary.
