Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the task by summarizing the main features of both the bar chart and the table. You successfully identified key trends, such as the growth in petroleum and engineered goods, and the decline in gems and jewelry. However, the analysis is slightly hampered by some inaccuracies in data reporting. For instance, you stated that textile products surged from 35 to 40 billion dollars, but the table indicates a 15.24% increase, which would result in a different figure. Additionally, the overview is a bit brief. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are accurately transcribed and that the overview provides a more comprehensive summary of the overall trends.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is logically organized into clear paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices such as 'On the other hand', 'By contrast', and 'However' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some referencing is slightly unclear, such as the transition between the bar chart data and the table data in the final paragraph. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that the connection between the two data sets is more seamless would enhance the coherence of the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'illustrates', 'substantial growth', and 'surged'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'export earning' instead of 'export earnings' and 'textile had lowest revenue' (missing an article). While you attempt to use more specific terminology, some phrasing remains repetitive. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations related to data description and ensure consistent use of articles and plural forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly regarding subject-verb agreement and punctuation, such as 'Agricultural products was identical' (should be 'were') and 'textile 8.5. engineered 3%'. Additionally, there are some issues with sentence fragments and inconsistent capitalization. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and punctuation will help improve your score in this criterion.
