Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have successfully identified the main features and provided a clear overview of the data. You covered all categories and included relevant comparisons, such as noting that gems and jewellery was the only category to experience a decline. However, the report could be improved by ensuring the data points are presented more accurately. For instance, you stated that gems and jewellery fell to 5.18%, but the table indicates a 5.18% decrease, not a value of 5.18. Precision in interpreting the relationship between the absolute values and the percentage changes is essential for a higher band score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is logically organised into clear paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs detailing the specific data. The progression of ideas is easy to follow. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'While' and 'In 2015', to link your sentences. However, the transition between the overview and the body paragraphs could be smoother. Additionally, some referencing is slightly mechanical. To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that the connection between the percentage change and the absolute value is more fluidly integrated within the sentences.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information clearly, using terms like 'earning amount', 'increased moderately', and 'dramatically'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'downfall' to describe a decrease in export value, which is slightly unnatural in this context. You also repeat the word 'export' frequently. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations related to data trends, such as 'experienced a contraction' or 'witnessed a marginal rise', and avoid repetitive phrasing by using synonyms or referencing back to the categories.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors. For example, 'the earning amount of petroleum products were' should be 'was' to agree with the singular subject 'amount'. Additionally, 'textiles export were' should be 'textile exports were'. There are also minor punctuation and preposition errors, such as 'increased by 0.81% in following year' (missing an article). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and article usage.
