Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response attempts to summarise the provided table, but it fails to clearly identify and report the main features. The data interpretation is inaccurate; for example, the student claims petroleum products were 60% and textiles were 45%, which does not align with typical table data for this task. Furthermore, the description of trends is confusing and lacks a clear overview. The response struggles to make meaningful comparisons between the categories or the two years, resulting in a fragmented summary that does not fully address the requirements of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The essay lacks a logical structure. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the progression of ideas is disjointed and difficult to follow. Cohesive devices are used incorrectly or in a mechanical, repetitive way, such as 'To started with' and 'on the second hand'. The lack of clear referencing makes it difficult for the reader to understand which data points are being discussed. The overall arrangement is not coherent, and the transition between sentences is often abrupt or confusing.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is very limited and often inaccurate. There are frequent spelling errors, such as 'En gin good' for 'Engineered goods' and 'eered gems and jewllert' for 'Engineered gems and jewellery'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe trends or data points precisely, relying on basic terms like 'highest' and 'lowest' without the necessary precision to discuss percentage changes or export values effectively. The repetition of basic structures further limits the lexical range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. Sentence structures are simple and frequently contain errors in subject-verb agreement, tense usage, and punctuation. For example, 'where is decrease within 1 percentage' is grammatically incorrect and confusing. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the errors in basic syntax make the text difficult to read. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing capital letters and incorrect spacing throughout the response.
