Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to summarize the data but fails to provide a clear overview of the main trends. While you mention that some categories grew and others declined, the description of the data is imprecise. For example, you state that 'gems and jewellery was the only product declined value', but you do not clearly contrast this with the growth in other categories. Furthermore, the report lacks specific data points (values) for the export categories, relying instead on vague descriptions like 'highest earning' or 'smallest rise'. To achieve a higher band, you must include specific figures from the table to support your claims and ensure the overview highlights the most significant differences between the two years.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is hindered by awkward phrasing and repetitive sentence structures. While you use some cohesive devices like 'whereas' and 'on the other hand', their usage is sometimes mechanical or grammatically incorrect, such as 'unlike, textiles export which had the least value'. The progression of ideas is somewhat disjointed, particularly in the final paragraph, which ends abruptly without completing the thought. Improving the use of transition signals and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The range of vocabulary is limited and occasionally imprecise. You use basic terms such as 'topics', 'worth', and 'improvement' where more specific academic vocabulary is required (e.g., 'sectors', 'value', 'growth'). There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'earnings of export had grouped into five different topics' and 'topped the chart of improvement'. To improve, focus on using more precise terminology related to data analysis, such as 'fluctuated', 'experienced a decline', or 'accounted for', and ensure that you use these words in their correct context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('Both graph shows'), article usage ('the only product declined value'), and sentence fragments ('unlike, textiles export which had the least value every year'). While you attempt some complex structures, they are often marred by errors in punctuation and word order. To progress, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring that subjects and verbs agree, and using articles correctly. Reducing these frequent errors will allow your ideas to be communicated more effectively.
